View Full Version : Have Server... need advice.

Ok, I am really new at all this stuff... well not totally new, over the last year I've been trying to find a way to get into the adult web business. I went to Internext/AVN last year in vegas and got alot out of the trip. I do a rave party community based website right now, so I have the skills necesary to do whatever I need to do. The only thing I lack is a plan. This is very important from what I've learned. I have my own webserver, and I've heard that tgp galleries are the way to start out, but I don' t have the money to throw on top of my dedicated server bill to handle all that bandwidth just yet. So what should I do? I have no source of adult traffic at the moment to support a pay site. Should I rent space to start my tgp galleries from an adult host? Should I host some kind of circle jerk? Should I do AVS? Where can I start off some kind of income from where I stand now? Any feedback would be appreciated.

since you are cut and pasting the question, I will do the same with my response.
well, if I am understanding you correctly, this "rave-based" site will contain pictures taken at raves?
If so, you will need to worry about model releases and Title 18 requirements proving that everyone in the pics are at least 18, which could be a problem.

yeah that's a good point... depending on where in the world you are, the laws are mostly the same though.
Mind you, we are assuming that nude photos are going to be shown of these girls. If so, I would first and foremost make sure that they're all 18 or older (with proof on file), and it goes without saying that you need their permission as "models" to use the content.

well, he says he lives in CA, and seeing as how he most likely will be dealing with a host in the USA, he is going to have to abide by American law, as well as CA state law.

I'm not interestedin using the ravers as models.. I'm just saying I do websites now, so I am able to do whatever it is I need to do, web wise. I'm asking what I should do first? TGP? Should I rent webspace on a less expensive server? I don't necessarily want to be running tons of tgp galleries on my mainly used server. Or should I just go ahead and tough it out and USE the dedicated server for TGP? Please let me know if I'm wrong, but I'm under the impression that TGP is the most inexpensive (other than bandwidth costs) way to get traffic. As far as cutting and pasting goes, baddog, does everyone that posts here aslo post on newbiewebmasters? Just curious.. trying to get as much input as possible.
Why don't you get a free host and try tgp'ing and go from there. You can also get free hosting from some avs companies as well. Our avs will offer free hosting VERY soon if you're interested.

Doubtful, just explaining why you were getting the same response from me at both places.
I would go with AVS, and then TGP to bring the traffic to your AVS site.

Yup, AVS is a good way to go at first. You don't have to worry as much about the initial traffic because the AVS will feed a lot of it to you. But I wouldn't rely on that traffic alone. You should always go and get your own. As much as you can.
You should hit Luke up for some info on www.sitepass.com

Hey, I totally appreciate ALL the help you guys have given. I'm seeing a plan arrise. :) I heard everyone was helpful in this industry, nice to see it's true. ;) I'll start on my AVS as soon as I get some more info on that. I'll check out sitepass as well luke. I can run an AVS, tgp is just a little too much bandwidth for my current server billing.
Again, thanks alot guys. You'll see me around quite a bit from now on ;)
