ok so I'm new to this making copies of DVDs. I'm behind the times I guess. :)
You know, you rent one and burn a copy.

I have a DVD burner now on my PC, but when I try to make a copy of one I get this message stating that the DVD is copy protected. So is it impossible to make a copy?

What software program are you using to copy DVDs?

I hear http://www.dvdxcopy.com/ should be good for that. Check it out.

Nero is always on the list as well.

are you using a MAC or a PC?

With a Mac, you can create a disc image and copy that through the finder or through toast.

I use DVD Studio Pro to burn discs, but if you're not a professional video editor, you probably don't have that... Toast should work... although it may not be able to copy two-layered discs.. I'll have to look into that.

For PCs, I think your options may be a little more limited. Try to create a disc image in Easy CD Creator or something, and then burn a disc from that image instead of actually just copying it.

Hope that helps.

http://www.nero.com Exactly what I realized I needed. DVDShrink, and Nero. They work perfectly together.

Thanks sweet, I had already downloaded them. I was chatting with a friend on the phone the other night. :xthumbs:

I'm seriously considering a Mac for my next laptop, though.
I've always wanted one.

HAHA

Yeah, in my one room loft apartment, I have 5 computers... because I'm lame. But I digress.

I use my Mac Desktop for composing music and web design and anything else I want to do. My PC lap top is really just so I can test stuff to make sure it works on both platforms.

I bought a G4 iBook with all the fixings so I could do my video editing where ever I happened to be, but swore I'd never use it for ANYTHING other than editing.

That lasted about 10 minutes. Love it. don't know how I ever got along without it.

iBook G4 huh? Hey after looking at the apple.ca website, those things look pretty awesome!

However, I have never owned an Apple or Mac... so I'm a little unsure about getting one.

Well, as luck would have it, I'm one those irritating Mac snobs who used to be a hardcore Microsoft Product person until I was forced to go Mac after eMagic got bought by Apple and Logic was no longer made for a PC Platform.

LOVE it.

And OS X is so intuitive, that you can have it mastered in about a day. I'm much safer from viruses, the platform is much more stable and crashes are much more rare. Software updates get done automatically...

shit, I'm even boring myself.

lemme know if you have any questions.

The more I know, the better. So nothing's boring!

I'm going to have to go play with one for an afternoon or something to see if it's really for me. But if I know myself, I'll be intrigued to figure out what it's all about.

I'll let you know what happens!

As tempted as I am to offer you the opprotunity to come over to my place and play with my "lap-top", I have to remind myself that this is NOT webmastersanonymous.com and that I gotta show a little decorum.

But trust me... you'll wonder how you lived with a PC.
