So thanks to Barry and Hazel from Webcamcash for their generous gift of an ipod to me earlier this year, I'm still uploading songs to it and going thru all my CDs (700+)... forgot all about a band I used to rock out hard to in the mid 90s called Propaghandi (a far out left wing liberal hardcore band with a strong message out of Winnipeg)... holy shit I'd forgotten how great these guys are. Anyone familiar with them or know of any other hardcore Canadian bands worth listening to?

My favorite hardcore canadian band at the moment is called "Raise Them and Eat Them", but I'm not sure if their CDs are widely available.. I got mine at their last show.

they're stunning.

And you can check out my band.. but we're more Industrial Balck Metal than Hardcore.

LAJ, I also forgot to tell you about this band, they are really heavy and seem to be doing really well:

Are they Canadian?

I thought they wer from LA.

Oh, my favorite hardcore album last year was by Dillinger Escape Plan.. but I'm sure if you're a fan of hardcore you've already worn that one down to a little aluminum disc.

Most recently I've gotten hooked on a band called "Great Big Sea". They are a cross between Dave Matthews Band and Irish drinking songs.

And they are from the Great White North.

Great Big Sea?

Wow, there's a blast from the past... I think they're still around... they had a huge string of top ten hits in the 90s, and were still selling lots of records even two or three years ago.

If you like that, check out the Early Ashley MacIssac albums like "Hi, How are you today?" and "Helter's Celtic".

OH, and also check out The Barra MacNeils, The Rankin Family and Lorenna McKennit.

The East Coast has some really great Celtic Pop bands.

I am not such a hardcore fan, though I do like lots of different kinds of beats. Billy Talent is great... I would also add to the list

Stompin Tom is awesome!

I've been a fan of his since I was a little kid and saw that documentary of him at the horseshoe Tavern in Toronto back in the 70's.

He's a real good down to earth guy. I met him in the late 80's in Toronto and he stood around chatting with me for about an hour that day.
