Hi All,

When i do a 45 video shoot on my Sony DV I then transfer it to my PC for editing and change it to MPEG format for my members.

The problem i have is when it's transferred from the VideoCamera to the PC it's about 10GIG plus in AVI format, is there any way to compress the orginal wihout losing the quality or is it better just to just store on the tapes and not keep the orginal on my hard drive?

Thanks

it may sound excessive, but we buy 120GB external HD's and after uploading, editing, and rendering the videos, we save them to the external. When that fills up, we add a new on. (we have 8 now)

edit* we save the raw AVI files and everything. All the clips, trailers, and any promo for the party on those drives.

HI,

You i have 120GIG drives too, and yup they are full.
I think DV tapes work out cheaper than the H/D, but hey it's so much quicker having them on the H/D.

I think i'll go get some more.
