Terra Lycos put out a 'new and improved' HotBot today. The interface has been redone with search results courtesy of either FAST, Google, Inktomi, or Teoma.

What are your thoughts on it?

Well I ran a search for "x nations"

Had no listings that pointed here. Looks like it's still a piece of crap.

maybe someone can explain this to me.
If I go to hobot, but use the "powered by google" option, then
why in the fuck would I not have just gone to google in the first place?
Google is the best, has been the best, and will probably stay the best.

and why do you drive on a parkway and park in a driveway?

Well it pretty much still looks like shit, and smells like shit.. Survey says! hehe

Hotbot isn't even it's own engine anymore. It's funny you can search FAST Google Inktomi Teoma but not Hotbot itself, and if you submit it takes you to Lycos' Insite submit. But there's no option to search Lycos. Fast get's it's own data from all the web and lycos, Google is google, Ink is MSN and position tech, and Teoma by askjeeves.

Nonsensical but then again what's new in the SE world? :)

It's bizarre. I can understand not using Lycos results if they want to distance the 2 engines. But with no engine of it's own it seems pretty stupid to be using only it's competitor's results. It isn't an SE and you can't call it a meta SE, so what the hell is it?
