I know that Kazaa auto installs a bunch of adware onto our computers, but what about Kazaa Lite?

Anyone using it? How does it compare?

Kazaa Lite is Kazaa that has been hacked by a 3rd party to remove the crud. Whether you use it or not depends on who you trust more... Kazaa or the hackers. Personally I'd vote for the hackers, hehe. I tried it a while back and it passed inspection by Norton and didn't put any garbage on my comp. Worked exactly like the original, so I guess it's a thumbs up.

Kazaa Lite is da bomb... the best way to go.

However, be forewarned...

Kazaa Lite asks you to replace your HOST file with a new one, which basically blocks IPS and DOMAINS from your computer. Hense, blocking the ads.

It blocks some really really bizarre ones. Including porn sites that you might normally go to.

There were a lot in there that I've had to go and remove from that list. You can open it in notepad.

So my advice, use kazaa lite, and make sure you check that HOST file.
on XP, it's in C:\windows\sytem32\drivers\etc\

or something like that.

But I will tell you this...
ladies and gentlemen ,
kazaa is poison for your PC
after many PC problems on a more than average maching , I took a friends advice and never installed either kazaa or ICQ on my machine and I am running my most reliable system ever

Kazaa has been causing a few problems with both computers here. Popping windows here and there, installing software without my permission and such, so I'm stripping it from both PCs.

Kazaa Lite sounds safe enough, though.

Remove ICQ? Can't do it... it's too important an application for me. I just upgraded to ICQ 2003a and it's working great.

Make sure you use adaware or something similar after uninstalling Kazaa. Simply uninstalling will leave all the shit behind.

I've got two computers here about to purchase a third. I've got a Mac G4, my baby, for editing.I've got a old Dell PII 233, I know its a dinosaur but it still gives me my money's worth. Kazzaa dealt it a lethal blow about a year ago, had it rebuilt. I would never go near Kazaa again. To much crap in Kazaa that messes with machines.

If your PC could talk it would tell you to dump Kazaa from the hard drive. It'a a disease.

I use kazaa lite no problem. If you use ad-aware, you have to tell it that the fake .dll file in kazaa lite is ok, since it will think it's the spyware .dll that's in the normal kazaa. they are the same name. the fake exists because kazaa will not run without it.

Been running Kazaa Media Desktop, (I suppose the media desktop part refers to the spyware and popup windows) . Actually, speaking of kazaa, I just had a pop up that is asking for a login "ifcol.exitfuel.com". Almost as bad as getting spam that has all broken images. Most impressive. lol

Was using bearshare for awhile. But it ate it and now I can't get it to install or uninstall. Both kazaa and kazza lite seem to work great. Find everything I look for.. mainly drum'n'bass lately.

Kazaa Lite is ok for me... but i'm using another "napster"-like, dunno if u know it, it's DIRECT CONNECT.

U can download this soft at www.neo-modus.com

I'm using it to download Prince's stuff (mp3, live, bootlegs, videos...).

It's based on HUBS u create with a special IP address... it's awesome!!

Otherwise, if u're looking for MP3's, do u know www.mp3s4free.net ?

It's a nice source...

so, the verdict is everyone likes Kazza lite, for both its uninvasive nature and the search results/file availablity?
I'm still using morpheus and need to replace it soon.

I installed Kazaa Lite yesterday, and it the latest version doesn't require any movement of files or any special settings like were mentioned above. It's extremely fast too compared to the full version.

Gunner... Morpheus? Yeah, it's time to move on maybe. There aren't as many users there as there once was.

Kazaa Lite rocks. It also avoid IExplorer not to crash in Win2k.
