I guess that trooper was feeling good with the holidays coming up because as I understand it, they don't usually let anyone off so easily!

Yes, the police officer was male. Frankly, I expected more hassle. A 50-year-old with a ponytail in a '96 Cadillac has got to fit some kind of profile ... but he just ran my plates and license, and let me drive away. I had just come from Missouri, where the speed limit on the rural roads is 60, not 55 ... so cruise control was set at 64. Usually I remember to reset it once I cross the state line, but forgot.

If I'd been in my rusty old beat up truck instead of in my girlfriend's car, I'm sure they'd have taken it apart. There's lots of meth in them-there hills.
