The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Penguins owner Mario Lemieux and his partners have been approached by "a few groups" interested in purchasing the franchise - and plan to begin negotiating with them.

At least one of those interested is a group from Winnipeg. Will we see a return of the Winnipeg Jets?

Those of us living in or around Winnipeg can only hope that Barry Shenkarow would somehow be involved in the purchase. :nuts:

it would be appropriate if Alaska had a hockey team named the Penguins - aren't there any millionaires up there?

When I first saw this thread, I thought of you. I figured you'd get yourself all excited at the thread title. OK, I did, too, and thought "well, now, this would be the perfect gift, wouldn't it?" :)

I can picture you and the kids tobogganing up at Whistler with a little creature at the head of the tobaggan saying "faster, faster!" :D

$100million? man thats alot, but the idea of having an XNations NHL team suddenly gave me chills of delight :D
