Is any person that consults on SEO any good?

Surely if they were any good they would..

a) only optimise there own domains ( why do other peoples if you can do it for yourself and thus make more money)

b) stay very very quiet about it so no watches them and or kills there domains

a) because it's a different business model. not all companies have the resouces to build their own sites from scratch.

b) becuase the adult market is already over saturated and it is perhaps better to service existing companies than try to create your own from scratch.

That's like saying "well why do all these companies sell their product to walmart? why don't they go out and just sell direct? they can make more money that way"
Just because you're good at something doesn't necessarily make it feasible for that company to expand into other markets.

No you do it because you can make more money doing it for others than you can doing it yourself

Actually, having looked a lot into this lately over in the mainstream world .... Prices go like this ...

One guy gets a grand for a one-hour phone call and a one page typed report.

Another gets $3G for SEOing a single index page of one site.

Another gets $5Gs for SEO speaking engagements, and counting the shows she goes to yearly, she must be making $200K from the shows only.

So ... guess what Nick. The old "if they were good they'd do their own sites" thing, It no longer flies with the kinds of money these folks are raking in hand over fist.

Correct. They are naive, in that they don't have the knowlege to best optimize their sites to get the best traffic possible.

They are however, smart enough to realise that there is a way to get some very very good search engine traffic at reasonable prices. Doing things through us... and we're not just an optimizatin company per se... the CPA for your sites through us are lower than what you would pay to an affiliate. So if you can get sales to your site at a lower cost than it would through your affiliate program then why doesn't it make good sense?

Good point drav, and i had no idea that they charged so much. With our program there is no prepaid stuff, our bills are based on actual results at the end of the month
