A recent message went out
from Fred Salaff to his friends:

Dear friends and supporters,

As incredible as it seems a court date has finally been set in my case for October 24th. This is 5 months down the road and almost 2 years since my arrest. I am not free to leave Panama and am not legally allowed to work. I have been separated from my wife who is a Cuban citizen since January, 2005. The Panamanian authorities have denied her a visa to come to Panama.

More than ever I need your financial support to get through. We are hoping that the case will be dismissed at the preliminary trial (which must be held in this type of case, according to Panamanian law).

I am trying to "hang in" but it is very difficult. My supply of medicines have run out, I need 3 root canals (due to breaking teeth in jail and subsequent neglect), my wife needs some money to survive without me in Cuba - the list goes on.

I try and keep my website up to date http://www.fredsalaff.com (http://www.fredsalaff.com/)

Donations via PayPal are urgently requested which can be be made directly from the website.

Many thanks for your continued help and support!

We finally have a date in court! Our preliminary trial is scheduled for October 24th in the city of La Chorrera. This drama is overlong and drawn out for no reason other than it is typical of Panamanian justice. The thing we are remembering well is that we are in a country other than the USA and that things are just plain done differently! Look at the Duke University Rape case. The defendants are on bail and never had to spend time in jail. Stefano Simone and I did 7 months of very horrible jail time because children trespassed on neighbor's property, climbed trees and looked over my ten foot wall to see an adult video being made.

I am inviting the world press to attend the preliminary trial to witness Panamanian justice first hand.

Please see: http://www.lawrenceconnor.com/fred/ (http://www.lawrenceconnor.com/fred/) Thank you.

Fred is not free to leave Panama, and
Fred is not legally allowed to work, too.

Fred has been on something like "house arrest".

Taken from Fred's website:

At this moment Stefano and I are out of jail
and are living in Panama under a “cautelar.”

This is a sort of “released on one’s own recognizance” condition.

As part of the terms we must go to
the prosecutor’s office weekly and sign in.

We are not free to leave the country until the case is finally decided.

By law, the judge must hold a preliminary trial to determine
whether or not to drop the case or go to a full trial
(which is sort of what a grand jury does in the USA).

any X Nations members read Spanish?

have a look at these if you please

gov't letter re: porn
http://www.fredsalaff.com/MGJ-SALAFF.pdf
"Currently our legislation has not classified adult pornography, as a crime"
- Letter from Panama Ministry of Government and Justice.

and

corregidor's letter
http://www.fredsalaff.com/corregidor.html
Letter from the Corregidor Modesto Alvarez
"Police and DIIP falsified documents Salaff case"
23 03 2005, Corregidor Veracruz alleges document fraud
You can read the entire memo here: (In Spanish)
http://www.fredsalaff.com/CORR_VERACRUZ.pdf
Letter from the Corregidor de Veracruz to the Mayor in Arraijan about
the illegal search warrant, police misconduct, and falsified documents, etc.

Very signifigantly this correspondence from the Corregidor Veracruz
to the Mayor in Arraijan pointed out serious matters that should've
put this case to rest, but also very notably did not do so,
and this is since the time that was brought out, last year.

The situation may even be worse for Sebastian Pujos (Tristan Seagal).

Fred explains:

"...it was Sebastian Pujos, aka Tristan Seagal, who was the director.

Why this matters to the prosecution I don't know, In my opinion,
none of us should have been arrested! However, it seems that
the government of Panama wants to blame someone for kids
looking at what Pujos was producing and shooting.
It's incredible but true."

"We have the feeling that the charges will not be dropped
against Pujos and his girl friend Eliszka. "

"Most people do not know that they have never been exonerated!
Same goes for the three actors."

The similar charges that have yet to be decided in this case about
Fred Salaff also are being held against a man named Stefano Simone.

The white barrier seen here in the pictures which is
obviously solid is sometimes described as a "fence".

I wish the guy the best of luck.
But having said that, I'd be very careful as to where and with whom you are shooting your content. Consideration of the local authorities and what they can do to you if they feel like it would certainly factor in.

But I hope it works out for Fred.

LC... do you personally know him? Why are you rallying behind him so fervently? Do you produce content now?
