Do you think sites like Youtube (or more particularly, Pornotube) are bad news? I’ve had a couple of webmasters wringing their hands saying that they’re potentially harmful to what they’ve been trying to do for years (err, make money), which I think, IS understandable if you visualise a huge server being populated by visitors uploading “bought” content, but I keep looking at these kinds of webscripts, and seeing the flip-side, which is that they are a very effective and addictive way of getting a visitor to pop the play button a number of times in quick succession, and maybe…getting a signup for more instant vids. I guess all it would need is a few lines of code to count the views, then load the payment prompt, and write the billing user/password data to .htaccess. That wouldn’t take long at all.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
The key difference with this I guess, is that the site would be a fixed portfolio of content, and not user-generated.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
I’ve got a few ideas about additions to the user-generated kind of site, but I think in terms of a traditional site (structured/themed around licensed content), it would be a neat way of bringing the “tour” mechanic up-to-date?<o:p></o:p>

That's an excellent question. I was actually thinking about this. I don't know... I did upload a video from Angeliquexxx.com just out of curiosity, to see... I don't know what the results are yet... If any...

I don't think they'll be that bad, really.. just another way of getting free porn, same as tgp's.

I would agree, I don't see anything really different in them than TGP and MGP sites. Not to say that those are good either...

All the free porn on the internet was pretty much inevitable.
Many people say that because of it, nobody is paying for it but we all know that isn't true.

When someone wants something specific, they're willing to pay for it. Having said that, I'd still prefer a little less free porn out there.

When used correctly I think the video upload sites can be a useful marketing tool.

One of the benefits is that unlike tgps you get to decide how long and explicit your clip should be. What works best for us are short teasers like this (http://pornotube.com/media.php?m=591) ;)

Be careful with youtube however. They've got a Hitler Youth thing going on over there wherein users are encouraged to rat on other users who've posted nude content. Two strikes and you're out.
