Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forum and new to being an "adult" webmaster... if I can even call myself that :o LOL.

I'm working on my first adult site...a bit excited at the prospect, but a bit leary, too after reading http://www.adultsitelaw.com. I'll be offering an instructional ebook as my sole product - was considerding using photos, but unsure of where to find licensed pictures that will allow use in ebooks.

Does anyone else offer such a product?
If so, will you pleaes share the URL to purchase license from?

Thanks! This looks like a friendly place to hang out :D

Welcome to the X Suzi Q! :xhappy:

I don't know any specifics about content licensed for use in an ebook but lots of content providers hang out here so someone should have an answer. If you've already seen something you like I would suggest sending an email to ask whether it can be licensed for that.

Welcome.

Most content licenses specify that the photos (or whatever) can be used on x number of domains on the internet. Since your eBook is on the 'net and not in print, your use of those images PROBABLY complies with the terms of the license. I emphasize probably because common sense would say that such use is legal - but common sense and the law don't always go hand-in-hand. :)

I know that an attorney frequently answers questions like this at The Adult Webmaster (http://boards.theadultwebmaster.com/tawmsg.php). He also invariably includes the fact that opinions offered on a message board are not and cannot have the force of an attorney-client consultation because there are too many variables. So, you can

* assume its okay and use them, and have common sense on your side;
* ask the person you purchase the images/? from and get their response in writing; or
* consult an attorney.

I'm kind of paranoid about this kind of stuff, but I'd feel safe in this instance in going with the 2nd option of asking the person you are licensing the images from.

I really did want to be a lawyer - but they turned me down when they found out my parents were married to each other. :D

I'm in Complete agreement with pornodoggy.

He made some very important points, If you're not sure ask. It can't be easier then that .. You don't wanna spend the coin on a lawyer, Ask the content provider.

Content Provider can't give you an anwser, one of two things happened either he/she has no idea what your talking about or question is breaking new grounds for this particular content provider... Seek legal advice.

This is important, you might be fine for a few months but eventually someone or some organization will catch up to you ... adultwebmaster.com and ynotmasters.com are great resources to start learning about Content rights ..
