Now that September is here and many people are back to more non-summer holiday routines, do you expect to see a rise in sales?

How about overall traffic? I'm starting to see an increase in traffic to my TGPs already. Is that happening all over the place because of the time of year?

This happens every year Chris. You know that! :)

We usually see a little increase around this time every year. Usually we have the dreaded summer slow down, but for some reason our summer sales didn't slow down at all... So, maybe we will get lucky and still see that increase soon!

I find that the real increase happens around October but our sales have began to increase already and I am excited to see the what happens. Internet is just not a summer activity!!!

Hey Chris...
On this side of the net we are increasing as well...
People are always taking cash advance loans out, but there is more traffic certain times of the year than others. We are starting to see a large increase in leads. Why now? One reason is its back to school time...so not only are students getting loans, but parents of students as well.

More towards the holidays, we will see a gigantic jump for obvious reasons...

The same patterns more or less are present in adult.

would be interesting to know, although it will never happen, if CCBill for example, sees an actual decrease in the overall amount of transactions processed during the summer months.

In years past we never saw a summer slowdown.... until this summer. Sex toys were just immune to the slowdown for some reason?

After this past weekend being horrible for sales I expect to see a nice and steady increase in sales before it levels off somewhere in winter.

Yes ! I expect to see the sales going up! Just like they did last year at the same period ! :)

Things didn't seem too bad on the content side of things. I think if people had any slowdown they just used the time to really work their sites because we've been doing really well. We also added a bunch of Bisexual stuff, which people don't always expect from us. Maybe that's a good idea for your sites. Use the summer slump to try something out of the ordinary and maybe it'll grab people's attention.

We have seen a slight slowdown during the summer, as we usually do, and then we always pick up in the last quarter and then even more in January and February.

It is like clockwork.

Our "WeDo" sites are really taking off. I am excited that the summer is over and that surfers are back into their routine!

Sales do seem to pick up in the winter seasons

Ahh, yes, of course. Summer slowdown followed by an increase of sales through the winter. Although, summer wasn't too bad for me this year, considering. Still hope to see an increase during Fall/Winter though, as always.

Thankfully July and August were record months for us, but that has to do with the release of the Biohazard site more then anything. I sure hope things pick up this fall as they usually do, so far Sept has been nothing spectacular though, just a tad better then august.

Traffic ad buys are way up as usual at this time of year, lots of new launches in the works. We did lots of summer deals and discounts.. and now we have tons sold.. so when the hot summer sun goes away.. so do the blow out specials.. ;)

Hey Chris:

In the 10 yrs or so I have been keeping data for my own sites and clients who participate in the data mining, I have found that the return to the school season has consisently brought back a rise in traffic and sales. There could be any number of theories as to why and some more obvious than others but the data itself is plain and the same every year.

A couple other trends:

- Sales decrease around U.S. election times.
- Sales decrease when major news events are happening.
- Sales increase briefly right after XMAS (this trend has diminished in recent years though)
- There appears to be a somewhat predictable pattern to credit card scrubbing percentages per company,

Also there are some trends as to which days of the week are best based on certain niches of sites. They coincide with the typical customer profile for said sites from everything I have gathered.

Hope any of that is useful. Like I said, I've been collecting data for years and have had the fortunate advantage of being able to do so from many many sources instead of just my own myopic world view.

We saw the normal summer slow down this year but, we expect things to start picking up now that Labor Day is over and fall has officially fallen :)

in the 10 years I have been doing this I have to say fortunately July and Aug were good to us as well - the Internext show in Florida has netted some great opportunities that should carry us to the Christmas season. From the webmaster perspective - sales really are growing slowly. Every year it is the same pattern, but it is during those times that we must make more effort to continue the curve.

for content providers, Christmas has been a curse - though I have made sales the eve of Christmas which surprised even my boss. Hoping for one last show with the GFY event here in Toronto should keep the curve upwards. I still have a huge list of clients and contacts to work with that will keep my busy.

unfortunately there is no single pool of marketing stats by which we can support our claims - but these next few months will be needed to create new ways to market ourselves smartly - and get ready for the new year.

Keep it always fresh and in your face - you'll ride over any presumed hump

Chris , Over the past year I have been working for CamZ.Com.
Looking at the numbers, I don’t see a slow down with sales.

I know a few years back sales dropped off over the summer, – due to school getting out or hot weather.
But now there are PC's in every room and every café, so it’s easy to get on line.

I'd really like to see some numbers to prove the summer slowdown theory. In the years I've been in the industry, and the various sectors of the industry I've worked in, I've never seen any sign of summer slow down.

Last year at this time I saw more SE hits coming in to my freesites so yes I think September is and always will be a month where numbers tend to spike up a little.

I can always see a good difference in traffic, because I put more work at the end of the summer :)

I actually saw an outstanding June & July and August was just slightly lower. I didn't see a 'slowdown' and truth be told, even when I was heavily promoting sponsors myself, I always had higher signups and better rebills in the summer. I also never took vacations which can also be a contributing factor.

Do I expect it to continue growing - it better ;)

As for the traffic - on my own TGPS the traffic grew slightly but the productivity is off the charts - so I think there may be something funky with my script :) Better get someone to check that!

so far this month, only 1 sale, traffic is ok but sales are crap so far for some reason, I'm really hoping that changes FAST hehe

This year was a bit strange for me.. I had a slowdown in April for no reason lasted through the summer but things are getting back to normal now. Usually I dont even notice a "summer slowdown" but this year has been different than others with the twists both legally and in our own industry..
