Kevin Smith Making "Porno" Movie

Delving into raunchy theme, Kevin Smith has come onboard to direct "Zack and Miri Make a Porno" which he described to the Los Angeles Times as "bawdy sex comedy with heart."

Project focuses on two friends who have managed to trudge into their 30s with a satisfying lack of accomplishment. However, a 15-year high school reunion and dire rent problems later prompt them to an idea of making together an amateur porn enterprise.

"It's ... dirty, with nudity," the Red Bank-born filmmaker told the paper. "But funny nudity, not gratuitous nudity."

Filming is planned to start February next year in Minnesota under The Weinstein Company banner. It is said that actress Rosario Dawson, who previously worked with Smith in "Clerks II", has already been offered the script for the flick and is supposed to give it a read this week.

It looks like porn is becoming more and more mainstream, your thoughts?

that's going to be a must see! I'm a Kevin Smith fan for sure.

Honestly, it's hard for me to say if this means that porn is becoming more mainstream. The concept that it's a snap to become rich off of quick porn is part of the mainstream world IMHO. National Lampoon did a similarly themed movie a few years ago.

People watch porn - the only question is if they admit to it or not. I think when the average person can talk openly about watching porn, then it will be part of the mainstream.

I have been A Kevin Smith fan since Clerks came out so I will see it. I think his writing has gone downhill a bit in past years but I always hold out hope.

Good principal, should be funny. Sex & Porn sell - no doubt about it. And anything that makes money is mainstream. However, the title simply sucks.

"Project focuses on two friends who have managed to trudge into their 30s with a satisfying lack of accomplishment"

Isn't this common theme for Kev? Just swap out 20s for 30s...

He used to want Ben Affleck for everything, I sure hope he doesn't for this one... lol

He only had Affleck is in his films simply because he keeps the same troop of actors throughout his films and Affleck was with him as far back as Mallrats. Dogma is nearly the only film where I can stand Affleck and Smith should be given some credit for keeping him under control. Listen to the commentaries sometime and listen to Kevin bitch about Affleck trying to re-write lines all the time.

If anyone can pull off something like this, it would be kevin Smith and knowing him, any nudity in the film will be the "wrong" kind of nudity, as evidenced by his "But funny nudity, not gratuitous nudity." hehe

I think the only gratuitous nudity he's had in a movie was Joey Lauren Adams in Mallrats

I bought Catch and Release pretty much based on the fact that Smith was in it. I thought it was ok, a little sappier than I normally like my movies but as usual Kevin was the Bomb yo! (LOL)

The only movies I've seen of his were jay & silent bob, & mallrats.

I wasn't amazed or anything, but he is funny. Im gonna try and check out Clerks then I'll be able to have a better opinion of his work.

Most Smith fans I know always say "the best of the best of the best sir" is the original Clerks movie. If you like character driven movies it's a must see for sure.
In my humble opinion the two movies you saw are not of his best work. For my money it's Clerks 2, Clerks, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jersey Girl, Mallrats, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.
At least I think it got them all...

Yeah, Clerks is my favourite and was the first I saw and the following films were better if you had seen them all because they are interrelated.

Personally, I hated Clerks 2..which was a huge let down considering Clerks is my favourite movie. After Jay and Bob - which was suppose to be a gift to the fans of the earlier films - his work became too 'gross out' and his dialogue mattered less. Which is a shame because it is the dialogue that won over a lot of us at the start.

In my view his best overall film is Dogma ..that will be the one that outlives him.

I heard of Dogma, but never seen it.

Whats it about? (yes i know I can use google, but i prefer an opinion from somebody 'I know')
