There are a lot of them that I love, but I would have to say it's AC/DC that comes out on top for me.

For flat out balls to the wall good timin' hard rockin' I gotta say ZZ Top, but then again George Thorogood has gotta be up there, and AC DC, The Stones....damn I just can't make up my mind. Damn then there was the original Fleetwood Mac Blues band and the Yardbirds....I am so confused.

Thats a real tough one for me having grown up in the late 60s through the 70s..
Rock n Roll was at its best during these times ie: songwriting was a serious art, drugs, sex and rocknroll was part of our culture. They were truly carefree times. You could hitch hike to a concert, get high, get laid and have a ride home. no charge, no strings... Memories..LOL

Just think about the bands that were around then, the level of "artist" and songwriting was on a scale not approached these days..

Choosing a "Best" would be real tough.. the songwriting was so diverse.

If only I could give my favorite...but a coalition governs my top choices.

Here are 7, they were easy. I gave up on 8 after deliberating for 15 minutes.

Great thread EC: I feel sorry for the youth of today...they have limited choices in my opinion.

Ramones (http://www.ramones.com/)
Nirvana (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nirvana_%28band%29)
Raving Mojos (http://cdbaby.com/cd/ravingmojos) (A Toronto punk band in the late 70's to early 80's)
Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds (http://www.nickcaveandthebadseeds.com/)
The Beatles (http://www.xnations.com/The%20Beatles)
David Bowie (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000309/maindetails) (Ziggy Stardust-Diamond Dogs Era)
Stone Temple Pilots (http://www.stonetemplepilots.com/)
Guns and Roses (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guns_N%27_Roses)

The Stones, Pink Floyd, Neil Young, Jimmy Cliff, Admiral Baily, Beastie Boys,
The Who, Violent Femmes, Original SIn, Arctic Monkeys, Linkin Park, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers....man it's hard to choose from 8 on...

Better I play with guitars and drums than collect stamps, guns or Rpyal Dalton China....

SFS is a person of extreme wisdom and taste....wow I once saw Lennie White do a drum solo that made me threaten to never play again. Damn he was good!

True, true..

I was an engineer for Epic & Atlantic records in the music industry from 1983 to 1997 and it was all "rock n roll" to me, even though i was recording rap, hip hop, jazz, etc.. Its all the same.. its music. I cant help it, I have a 70s mentality on music. :)

Just my take on it. :) But you are correct.
