I need a piece of software that will allow me to take very big (300mb+) and make them manageable for youtube plus something that lets me insert captions if I want them.

Suggestions?

your lookin at a couple of programs there .. to make it manageable for youtube as you say .. you need a compression program .. there are lots of free ones out there ...Like mpeg stream, a few others that escape me right now .as for captions An edit program would work fine like Premiere .. actually you could even compress with premiere. or vegas ...

hope that helps

A good one that does it all is Pinnacle (http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/Home/)
easy to use you can set compression and add watermarks, sound, edit trim and do all kinds of neat stuff.
Works great for trailers on you tube.

Thanks guys... I'll have to put Pinnacle and Vegas through the paces eventually.
Premiere is just too darn heavy from what I remember using it years ago.

premiere has lightened up and become more usable, but you can use pinnacle (which is like easy mode)

So is Pinnacle good for stuff like to upload to YouTube? I just need something to mess around with.

Anyone got a link?
