I made this in Adobe Illustrator...wanted some opinions on it. I'm trying to come up with something creative to submit to an "Illustrator Newbie" contest and the deadline is Sunday
pretty good if you are indeed a newbie and not just pretending to be a newbie. Its a bit sloppy but has some artistic merit.
Try removing the extra white peices from the picture if you can pull it off neatly. One other thing you could try is to just make the entire background, white. So the extras don't show.

Good Morning and thanks Ed. After I posted it, I knew I screwed something up. How did you change it? I have the same thing in color but I made it b&w to cover some of the flaws I made working with the gradient tool. Oh, and yes--I am a "newbie".... I cheated around a few corners--like the face. I imported a photo into AI--Locked it and traced over it with the pen tool. Do you know of any good sites with easy to read tutorials?
