I FUCKING HATE Christmas! Voila I said it!

I really dont like christmas. I'm sick of it repeating again and again. I don't like the weather, the atmosphere in the shops of having to rush to satisfiy everyone with a present. In malls they've been playing christmas music since early november. Covers of the origional songs with no soul... just cheaper so they can afford the credit to the artists. I hate that you can't snuggle up with your boyfriend watching some t.v in mid november without every advert trying to stress you out about what your going to buy... shoving the picture of the perfect family around the christmas tree down your throat ... perfect because they got what they wanted. The plasma screen. The laptop. The MFS sofa. I used to love it as a child and then the magic just disapeared.

I make a huge effort for Ryan, but seriously I could do without Christmas I mean what's it about really? Didn't it start with baby jesus (I'm catholic) and then out Santa came and the $$$ gifts and the crazy shopper on boxing day, people being trampled (literally) to death at Walmarts! How festive is that? I'm quite happy going somewhere hot and remote away from all this BULLSHIT!

DAMN THAT FELT GOOD! :worthy:

I'm with you! It's all for kids, but adults giving one other presents out of OBLIGATION is just shitty. Plus its so stressful when it should be fun family time to relax.

This christmas is not my favorite - but it's a time of the year that I prefer forgetting about religion and accepting that there are a few people that have me in mind when they are out spending money. Any holiday that gives me that feeling - I enjoy !!

fuck xmas! it's a huge money making racket and the ONE time of the year that people can show others in their family how much they "care".. It makes it all about competition, spending $ you don't have, turning kids into whining greedy fucks and the list goes on.

I can go on and on about how I feel about the uselessness of xmas, but I'm not in the mood to type that much.

If you guys hate Christmas, you should see Valentine's day in my household. My wife and I met on Valentine's day; It's our daughter's middle name. Valentine's Day is like Christmas on Steroids every year....

We just booked tickets for Disney on Ice, front row tickets, for Valentine's Day. It's two months away and I'm already planning for it.

I don't care for the commercial aspect of Christmas either. I really think the fun is lost when it becomes all about the show, impressing people, falseness, and running yourself ragged needlessly.

My family is pretty close as is, especially my immediate family, and since my dads side of the family tends to multiply like rabbits, we've always had a huge family dinner on Thanksgiving and Christmas ever since I can remember. Everyone gives hugs and kisses and phone calls or visits always end with "I love you." Moms side of the family were cold, stern Germans, but my grandparents and uncles were always warm to us kids. My family has always been about family first and always will be. Christmas has always been about the kids and even though they get spoiled at Christmas, as did my brother and I, the little ones still know Christmas isn't about how many presents Santa brought.

It wasn't only Christmas or a random holiday where someone said, "I love you" and made the effort to all get along or the crap of outdoing one another each year. Sure, my family has it's share of dysfunction, but it's still a family full of love.

I don't like the consumerism other and the "requirement" to buy presents....but I do like the house decorations and that people are usually extra nice to eachother. I like meals together with family and good food. But usually I just get some crap I didn't want or need and I would rather just buy myself something. I just hate that feeling of "having" to buy someone something.

It's not all bad though.... :)

I dont like the commercialism of Christmas, but for me its a good time to reflect in the year gone by. To be thankful for the friends and family I have. To remember the friends and family I have lost and to look forward to the year ahead.
