How come I never heard of this before?

A "Leap Second"?

Weird... so basically when the clocks strike midnight on new year's eve, we all wait one full second before saying "Happy New Year"?

That's an interesting article. It makes sense to add the extra 1 second. For us on EST, the 1 second will appear at 6:59PM. Greenwich, England will have the delay just right before midnight.

So what are you going to do with all that extra time Panky? ;)

So what are you going to do with all that extra time Panky?

I'm going to buy an atomic clock or maybe set my computer clock, as well as tune in, so I can not only watch for the one extra second, I can hear it too. Maybe I'll record the event and upload it to Youtube. Then when my clock is officially synched, I'm going to spend that one extra second staying in bed snoozing in the morning.

Have you thought about what you are going to do with your extra second?

Alot can happen in a second - choice of right and wrong - good and evil or decide if at New Years and your pissed drunk - whether in that second the girl sitting beside you suddenly becomes do-able

Sweet, that gives the one poor sap stuck in the bathroom one extra second to get out in time LOL
