- strengthened diplomacy and climate of peace
- vision of nuclear free world
- tries to solve problems through diplomacy

**NOTE: ALL MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE AGREED TO VOTE FOR OBAMA

The last sitting U.S. president to win the peace prize was Woodrow Wilson in 1919. The other was Theodore Roosevelt in 1906. Jimmy Carter had been out of office for more than two decades when he won in 2002.

This year's Peace Prize nominees included 172 people -- among them three Chinese dissidents, an Afghan activist and a controversial Colombian lawmaker -- and 33 organizations, the highest number of nominations ever.

The Nobel recipient receives a prize of about $1.4 million.

**NOTE: How many of you will wonder if IRS will check to see if he filed his prize winnings :)

I really am not sure what to say, if all of the committee which includes countries that hate Obama now agreed then it's good for him.

These awards began a few weeks after he got into office though, so I am not sure of the process but maybe we're not privy to all the details of Obama's journey's or success's.

Yea, I actually like Obama but it was crazy to give him that award. It just shows you hoe worthless it is. Hell, Arafat got one. :D

Perhaps they wanted to give him something to live up to.

What's wrong with nuclear power?Really?
A lot actually... If you only knew how many spent fuel rods are buried all over America. That stuff is radioactive forever.

The Nobel committee recognized Obama's efforts at dialogue to solve complex global problems, including working toward a world free of nuclear weapons. That's good.

Why did he win? I'm not too sure. I read an article that says he sent 25,000 troops to Afghanistan I believe. But, Obama does a lot of peace oriented activities.
