Hey guys, Im working on a new article and i would appreciate some honest feedback. The premise is that the word niche is overused and misused in our industry. Please take a look and let me know what you think.

Nice article. Niche is a word used by those who don't understand fetish. I have been marketing "niche" for over ten years now. I remember when people would look at my sites and make disparaging remarks about ugly girls, poor design etc etc. Many of them have gone. Many have moved from job to job having never really been able to market their own sites. And now many are looking for "niche" sites like they are gold in a river of tin. We still do very well in a very crappy market. Why? because we are "niche". Fetish is a word that has been expropriated by the leather and rubber gang who think that is what fetish is. So that doesn't quite work.
I would say we have a boutique business. Successful with focussed traffic. Most mainstream porn traffic fails in the boutique end of the biz because very few webmasters get it. Here is an example. Most people think this is a stocking site and only toss their version of "stocking" traffic. What do you think? If you can figure it out, you can sell it. If it needs explaining, move along there is nothing to see here. That is niche.

That's an interesting thought, i came to a similar conclusion. Niches are for people who like to call themselves marketers and fetishes are for human beings.

Glad you liked the article BTW, i thought it kinda went all over the place but i didn't want to leave anything out.

No problem. As the internet gets more competitive, marketers will have a choice. Kind of like the real world. You can go big and compete with the Wal Marts of the world...or pitch the Wal Marts along with tons of others. Or you can specialize. I chose the latter because it works for me and I understand it. But this business is getting tougher and tougher and the choice is yours. Personally I wouldn't even choose to get into the porn business today. It is reverting to the pre internet days when very few players controlled the entire market. But even then, the little guys with the niche product did very well. Leg Show magazine is a prime example. Small and focussed is the reason we do so well.

It does remind me of the old days in a way. There seems to be more money on the fringe, tube sites are like the evolution of password trading sites. Theres no need for a pass anymore though the stolen content is right there for everybody.
