I'm very pumped about the NHL Playoffs. The "2nd season" as we call it up here is going to be great this year! True, the Montreal Canadiens won't be a factor at all this year, but we have the Canucks, Senators, and the Leafs who all have very strong and contending teams!

I hope we see an all Canadian final! Woo Hoo!

GO LEAFS GO!!!

Ya gotta admit that the chances of an all Canadian finals are very possible with the likes of Vancouver and Ottawa!

I can always hope for my Leafs to go as far as possible too though...

Can't wait to see the newspapers in Toronto blast Pat Quinn when he has to let go of a few players in the off-season cause the fans didn't understand that they rented players. :p The leafs should have a great first round against the flyers and have a good chance of winning since Philadelphia seems to always trust under achieving goalies.

I hope to see an Ottawa/New Jersey conference final. That'd be great!

I have to admit that it is just nice to see the Lightning get in, no matter what happens.

Teams like Tample, Anaheim, and Minnesota have made huge improvements since last year. Yeah it's good to see them making the playoffs.

Go LEAFS!

Definetly! Best move they ever made was to NOT trade Vincent LeCavalier. Although the rumour was that he was gonna be traded to Montreal a couple of years back and I wish he was, but it's turning out good for Tampa.

Actually if any team can cause a surprise in the east, it's Tampa Bay. With a fast offence that can hit you hard, and a playoff goalie with Khabibulin, you just never know. It's all up to Khabi really, if he's hot, they can go far.

In the west, Minnesota has to be the team that has the best chance at shocking everyone in the first round.

My only fear with TB is that they are very much a finesse team and I don't know how well they will be able to adapt to playoff hockey. I hope next year they can add some grit and more physical play to the lineup.

You are right about Nik K, though, they will only go as far as he can carry them.

It's also interesting to see the Rangers miss the playoffs again, despite all the names they have signed over the past few years.

Well they have some guys that can defend themselves. Vinny LeCavalier can hit hard. Brad Richards isn't a push-over either. Those are two very talented players that can go to the corners. I don't know how effective Martin St-Louis will be in the playoffs, but he might just end up being like Theo Fleury plays. I mean, the TB games I've seen, he hasn't shyed away from the front of the net.

The problem with the Rangers is they went the wrong approach. Hockey is all about teamwork. The best collection of players does not guarantee a good playoff run. It's not like Baseball where essentially it boils down to a single player effort.

and in more than just hockey, but we did get the superbowl win 2 seasons ago but Boston is really a hockey and baseball town but we're pessimists (sp?)

Like I already know when Joe Thorntons contract is up he'll either hold out for a whole season before being traded or we'll just be let go, I know I sould think positive about it but i can only base this opinion on what I've seen in the past and just in the last few seasons (Jason Allison, Anson Carter, Kyle Mclaren, Bill Guerin, Byron Dafoe)

I don't follow hockey too closely but my bother was kind enough to take me to my first Leafs game at the ACC last night against the Caps. Great game but a nail-biter until the Leafs took it in overtime.

GO LEAFS GO!!!

We'll soon know the initial match-ups for the first round.
I'm looking for a playoff pool so we can compete.
Has anyone seen a good one?

this is definitely going to be an exciting post season. i was just looking on espn.com and they have minnesota as a 7th seed. they're a tough team to beat (coming from a dallas view) and it'll be great to see either the wings or wild out after the first round.
