New gadgets have become cheaper, more functional and offer more bang for the buck than devices like the PC, MP3 player and netbook. High function but low-end smartphones are now available on low-cost wireless carriers like MetroPCS (PCS), Sprint's (S, Fortune 500) Boost Mobile and Leap Wireless' (LEAP) Cricket, and devices like e-readers have begun price wars.

Most importantly, newer gadgets offer more than just the devices' primary functions themselves; many have a multitude of services that come with them. Tablets and e-readers have 3G connectivity, the ability to download a host of apps and access to GPS services, which most music players and laptops can't handle. Some services like Netflix (NFLX) and Amazon's (AMZN, Fortune 500) Kindle apps allow users to begin watching a movie or reading a book on one device and finish it on another device.

We still have two strong desktops in the house. I have worked exclusively on a laptop for the past 8 years, though.

My desktop downstairs (beside me) acts mainly as a print server, and I also use it to watch TV and listen to music too. I test browsers on it too. And a few other things.

I have been only using a laptop now for about 3 yrs, up until then I used a power PC. I am strictly MAC now and I intend on buying an iMac desktop as a compliment to my laptop, why because I work from home and it makes sense being a designer and editing video!

I think working people will still need "real" computers (e.g desktop or laptop) to work on, be it creating or editing content/services.
However, I think there's a strong move when it comes to displaying content. People use their cellphones and other iPads more and more for that kind of use. Which makes mobile adult websites a real challenge for the adult industry today, imho.

I'm still a desktop guy. I use both Mac's and PC's as they both serve their purpose, and even a Linux box. I also have a laptop and a netbook...but still don't have a "smart phone".
