This is driving me mad. I've got a virus which over an hour gradulally slows down my computer. Clock starts running slow, videostreams won't play etc etc. Reboot it and everything works fine. Both Norton and BitDefender say its virus-free..but I know it isn't. Any ideas anyone?

Hi mikeyuk! <img src="http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/a/bye.gif" width="25" height="15"> Welcum to XNations! <img src="http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/6/pirategreen.gif" width="15" height="15">

Go to Panda Software (http://www.pandasoftware.com) and use their online virus scan. When the page loads, click on Panda Active Scan. It's on the lower left hand side of screen. Then, just follow the on screen instructions. Panda tends to find things the other programs skip, never detect, or can't clean.

Then you want to download a free program called Spybot - Search & Destroy (http://security.kolla.de/). This program works awsome for detecting and removing spyware and adware from your system.

Or download the eval version of www.antivir.com

It's a nice anti-virus scanner!

Clock starts running slow? I've never heard of that before.
Maybe it isn't a virus at all. Maybe it's your FAT's that are messed up and in disrepair. Have you tried a defrag?

Thanks for everyone's suggestions.

It turned out to be Spyware causing the problem ..my computer was clogged with something called Xupiter and Spybot got rid of it.

It seems to be OK now

A lot of this "spyware" is really badly written garbage. It doesn't release resources properly so it just keeps taking a bigger and bigger percentage of cpu/ram until nothing will even run anymore. :badcomp:
