One of the first movies I watched as a kid was To Sir With Love. I was so moved and immediately respected and admired Sir Sidney Poitier for his talent. He also was the first black man to win an Oscar in 1964 which looking back was an achievement considering how racially separated the country still was.

Yup... read this today. Sad.

I'm embarrased to say that I never really saw many of his movies. The first movie I ever saw of his was "Sneakers", the computer hacker movie with Robert Redford from the 90's.

I remember enjoying his performance alot and when another movie of his came on TV, "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner ", I decided to check it out, and loved it. It was so good! "To Sir, with Love" was good too, but I didn't like it as much as "Dinner".

I never saw "Uptown Saturday Night". A friend of mine told me that this was his best movie.

RIP Sidney Poiter.
