PSW Billing Responds to New Visa ChargeBack Regulations

RHODE ISLAND, USA - July 3, 2003 - Visa announced on July 1 to IPSP's that new regulations will take effect on October 1, 2003 regarding acceptable chargeback levels for Sponsored Merchants; dropping the acceptable rate from 2.5% to 1% for domestic transactions. Acceptable chargeback rates for foreign transactions will drop one-half percent from 2.5% to 2.0%.

PSW Billing Solution's (http://PSWBilling.com) response to the news has been forthright with Executive Vice President Matt Gardner explaining the situation to hundreds of adult webmaster listeners on July 2nd during his appearance on the YnotMasters.com HumpDay Radio Lunch Show as Co-Host with LAJ.

“PSW will be working closely with existing and potential merchants to maximize profitability while helping them enhance various policies in the areas of customer service, member retention, and corporate communications,” stated Matt Gardner, Executive Vice President.

PSW Billing recommends a few general guidelines all adult site owners should take into consideration. Webmasters shoud review their processors Acceptable Use Policy and Terms and be in compliance with current and updated regulations. Customer service is strongly encouraged by providing visible links for both the webmaster and customer support on both the main page of the site and within the members area, as well as providing prompt replies to customer inquiries.

"Every adult webmaster will be paid well for providing a good service," said John Lombardi, CEO of PSW Billing. "We at PSW have worked with sites that have done very well from 1997 through today with a chargeback rate that has never gone over 1%. We know good business pays off when you make customer satisfaction your number one priority."

“At PSW Billing we are dedicated to protecting and informing our clients of their responsibilities under the new regulation, and we are working hard to provide webmasters with tools and basic guidelines that they can follow to help stay within the acceptable chargeback range,” said Vice President of Marketing, Cynthia “Cyndalie” Fanshaw.

To help merchants get some perspective on the new regulations PSW Billing has produced an article entitled “The 1% Difference: Taking Steps Towards Reducing Chargebacks” (http://www.pswbilling.com/articles/200300703-cf-1difference.shtml
). The article offers tips and ideas, guidelines and thoughts, towards reducing chargebacks that webmasters themselves can take action on. PSW Billing highly recommends that all adult webmasters absorb this information and take the big picture into consideration when it comes to doing business online.

Good stuff.... Unfortunately, we're still all peeing our pants over this Visa stuff. Hopefully the processors can really find some proactive ways to work with and help to manage the problems that their resellers are going to have. Unfortunately, the new fines that are imposed on top of everything else has the potential to really hurt the financial viability of the IPSPs if they're unable to pass the liability directly onto the registered company owners.
