Anyone uses their system to keep spam under control?

We use Spam Assassin (http://useast.spamassassin.org/index.html) on our mail server.

Well, SpamArrest uses another approach... one that might work quite well...

Isn't this the company getting sued by Hormel?

It would be effective at blocking spam, but it seems like it could end up blocking a lot of automated, but legitimate email such as billing company receipts, bounce notifications, mailing lists, etc. Also, if the sender doesn't check his/her mail in a timely fashion the message they sent could be unduly delayed. The blocked messages are kept on SpamArrests server for 7 days and then deleted. If the sender or reciever isn't prompt in checking their mail, important messages could be lost.

In short, like most of the other spam filtering ideas, its clever but deeply flawed.

Not checking email for a week? This won't happen... at least not for me...

Is there any mail server software that does the same? I contacted in the past a few people that first needed me to reply to an automated email before my original email was sent to the recipient...

When having such software it shouldn't be all to hard prolong maybe for 2 weeks or a month if you have an own mailserver...
