Celebrities make me laugh. Especially actors/actresses. They live in their own little worlds which they believe revolves around them alone.

It's especially funny when a couple of actors get together and profess their love for one another on all the tabloid trashy TV shows like Entertainment Tonight.

Then they get divorced a year or two later. It's scary to think that these are role models for children. Don't even get me started on athletes! :D

to make that much money, and have that much public attention..you should have to be able to pass a certain morality or image test

Hi Chris,

Are you referring to anyone in particular? I'm just wondering what's got you so worked up about celebrities?

But I keep seeing those pictures of Madonna, Spears, and Aguilara making out on stage at the MTV awards.

One message is that it's ok to be a slut & stuff, and the other is don't do what Kobe did... (or allegedly did)... too much double standard going on these days!

I hear you.

Most get away with some pretty outrageous behaviour, and then they make examples out of others.

Doesn't always make sense.

I don't think it's the celebrities we have to blame for that, it's the rest of the world who think it's important.

I have to agree with you, but it’s fun to hang out with them and get the royal treatment too. I was out with Robert Downey Jr. and a few other people this summer, we went for dinner and then to a club on St. Laurent, it’s nice not to have to wait in line and get the vip treatment everywhere! I have to say he is a really nice guy and fun to hang out with. With that said, picture this, we are at a club it’s 1:30am and the manager asks if everything is to his tastes and if he’s like anything, his reply “I’d really like a bowl of chocolate ice cream” (he was big on chocolate since he’s been on the wagon) well 15 minutes later the manager hands him a bowl of chocolate ice cream!!! I have no idea where they went to get him this but they did! I guess he’s used to getting what ever he wants so he just asks.

Hehe, this is what I meant. The manager made a big deal out of it and had to look around for ice cream at 1:30am.

The problem isn't the actors it is the people that want to know everything about them.....If they would just get a life of their own. The actors would have so much to say. Sure they entertain us but does that mean we need to know what they call their dogs. How big their house is. What kind of food they like.

I do agree with you Chris and see your point, but this is a bad example imho. One was staged or AT LEAST mutually agreed upon. The other has yet to be debated(?) in a court of law. Certainly I'd rather EITHER of my children come to me and say they were gay, as opposed to having the RCMP knock on my door and say one of my children was being accused of rape.

But how would we all honestly feel if our children came home and told us that they were gay.

As a proud and lucky father of BOTH a son and a daughter, I can honestly say that my acceptance level would be much greater for my daughter to be a lesbian than for my son to say he's gay.

Stereotypical? Perhaps. But, young girls find that it's COOL to be bi-sexual nowadays. I can't count on both of my hands the number of times I've seen two teenage girls AT LEAST holding hands in public.

I have yet to see two teenage boys hold hands in public.

Maybe it's out of fear of my son being ostracized, but I'd PROBABLY find that harder to deal with. Just being honest.

Flame away.

Emmanuelle??

What I do not understand and never will, is how in the fuck do celebrities and athletes make so much damn money!!! Just becuz your on TV and known by millions of people does not mean they should get paid that much freakin money!! What about firefighters and paramedics?!?! HUH?!?! They work sooo fucking hard and save lives everyday, but they can't even make ends meet!!!!!!!! It pisses me off and something should really be done about it too!!!!!!! Evil Chris said that he couldn't believe that celebrities and athletes are the role models for kids!!! That's a bunch of horse shit!! Kids need to see that just becuz actors/actresses play heros does not actually make them heros at all!!! Some kids tho, need to get their heads outta their asses and just see exactly who the real heros and role models are. Thank you for reading my bitching.

Celebrities (especially in the television branche) make something that's good for everyone... tv characters they make you dream... however I think we should differentiate between their roles and their real life... let them have a private life as I think most of us prefer also!

I think Bruce Willis said once that he gets paid far too much for his acting but he added he doesn't mind that :)

Yes celebs do get paid too much for what they do, and I would love it too if I got paid as much as they did! But apparently there is not enuff money in this wolrd to take care of the people who work their asses to make a fuckin buck!! This world has it's great points about many things, but when it comes to the money it has, it goes to the wrong people for the wrong things!!

Amen, Chris, Amen.

Double Standards seem to be running amuck at the moment. Makes me ill. And, Tabloids will be tabloids, but keep it on the news stands and off of my regular news channels. Besides, look at the woman's track record! We all knew this would happen anyway. :bonk: :bonk:

I watch CNN religiously everymorning before I start working...
The celebrity thing is completely taking over the news. Between the gubernatorial race and its celebrity to ben and jen, Kobe and the KISS-- I am not sure I know anything about the real stuff going on!

"... we interrupt this live from Bahgdad broadcast to let you know Arnold was well scripted and rehearsed for last nights debate..."

and yet every morning between 7:00 and 8:00 I watch!
