Well, here is a great subject to bitch about!!I am a smoker and in Cali you can't smoke in restraunts, or even in BARS!!! Now c-mon!!!!!!! If you are a kind of person that smokes while you drink, then this piece of shit law is definitely a pain in the ass for you!!!! Most people, like myself, love to have a cigarette after we eat a meal. Well, you can have a cig after you eat but, you have to go outside to have it!! What a pain in the ass that shit is!! Just about every state is planning to do the same shit!!! Ain't that a kick in the head?!?! YES IT IS!!!! I know most people that don't smoke, do not like to smell smoke while they eat. MOFO, if you don't like it why don't you go outside then?!?! Hey!!!!! That's a great idea, why don't we make non-smoking sections of restraunts outside? Yes!!!!!!! Make it a screened in area for all the non-smokers. Cuz then, they can get the fresh smell of SMOG then!!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!

Why not simply quit smoking? Think of all the money that you could save!

Izzy
09-22-2003, 07:28 AM
Hey wsjb,

Yes, I know that if I quit, I would save much money, but you said "smiply quit smoking", umm I take it your a non-smoker. If you were a smoker, you'd know that quiting ain't so damn simple!! I tried many times, cuz of the fact I can't afford, it but, if I don't smoke, then I feel as if Ima jump roght outta my fucking skin!!! Next time you run into an ex smoker ask him or her how hard it was to quit. Now if you are an ex smoker and it was simple for you to quit, good for you, that's great, wish I was you. But when you have smoked for 7 yrs. its not at all easy to quit.

Paul Markham

Quitting is not that hard if you have will power.

I have been very ill recently and part of the investigation to find out what was wrong was an ultrascan, they did not find the problem. But they did find a main artery hardening because of the years I smoked.

The doctor showed it to me on the monitor and told me what would happen if I did not quit smoking. Stopped that day. Death is a real incentive especially when you have a 20 month old baby and this is your wife.

Why did you start smoking first-place?

Izzy,
I feel your pain; I’m on the other side of your Rant.
I live in a state that is just starting to go the no smoking Rule, 3 years from now we will be smoke free in some places.
I don’t smoke and never will, 2 reasons why.
1. My father died from smoking.(to fucking early 42)
2. One of my boys gets sick when he is around someone that is smoking.
I know it’s your right just as much as it’s mine to go out and eat, all I’m saying is I think Some places Smoking should not be allowed.

Izzy
09-22-2003, 03:07 PM
well, i dont have will power, i don't have any illness, but let me tell ya something, its gonna take a life threatening illness to get me to quit!! I am glad for those who smoked and quit. That's fucking great indeed. More power to ya, good going!

Izzy
09-22-2003, 03:18 PM
Did I start smoking in the 1st place?

Well, the only reason a kid at the age of 12 would start smoking here where I live, was to fit in and be cool like others. I don't fit in at all anywhere. So, I am always trying to find different ways to fit in. I mean I wouldn't do something too extreme just to fit in, but smoking and trying to find the right kinda clothes to where to fit in with people is just what I have become. The main reason I smoke now is cuz I can't quit, I have tried but I do not have a lot of will power. I shouldn't care a lot about what people think of me, but for some really fucked up reason, I have always felt that it's important what people think of you. Oh well, Ima go smoke a cig now and think of how fucked up it is, but still enjoy it none the less.

I don't feel my pain either. I am just bitchin and moanin, just to be bitchin and moanin, I find it quite amusing and entertaining to say the least. And I can't believe I found a board that will alllow me to! This is quite nice!

Izzy, they enacted that in Florida this past July too. Tell you what, I think I can count the number of times I've gone out to a club or a bar on my right hand since then. Hell, it's cheaper to eat and drink at home anyway, and an excuse to invite friends over. I know your point isn't being able to smoke in public places, it's being told what you can and can't do period. I think if you are sitting outside you should be able to smoke outsite. Smokers are usually pretty respectful of non smokers and stay out of their face to begin with.

In Florida however it is usually too hot to do anything outside. Businesses down here have suffered the worst summer ever for resturaunts and bars, many friends have been laid off or forced to find a jobs where tips are more hospitable. Many say smokers were the best tippers. Now it's a field day for old people to go out with their tipping calculators and complaints about dumb shit. I think if they tried, a happy medium could be found, but for now the money I've saved on going out has made cigarettes fit into my buget easily

*hint of sarcasm* heheh :)

Izzy
09-22-2003, 09:01 PM
Yes I do love to bitch, and I know it can be a lil annoying but it's as addicting as smoking. Yes marijuana should be legal, I don't smoke it anymore cuz for some fucked up reason I am unable to get high. I tried it 6 times and it wouldn't work!! I was a lil disappointed to say the least, but I know many people who need it to relax and to feel better about their probs, it helps them forget them all and not think about them. In high school I did a essay on how it should be legalized, I got a B, cuz my teacher was bitch! I really deserved an A but whatever, anyways... I know cigs kill a hell of a lot more ppl everyday than marijuana, and thats another reason why marijuana should be legal as well.

Who the hell wants to be bothered by your smoke?

Cigarette stinks and I want to puke every time I smell it.

That said, I am strongly against laws regulating smoking.

The dangers of secondhand smoke are overwhelmingly exagerated, valid only for a very small group of people. It is a medical hoax forged out of a desire of our ruling class to better "social engineer" us.

Izzy
09-23-2003, 01:28 AM
Feynman,

I like that quote under your statement you made. Yes secondhand smoke is exaggerated!! Thanx for posting that point.

Ronaldo

My biggest problem with the no smoking laws are that they are implemented by the same government(s) that benefits from the tax dollars generated through the sales of cigarettes.

Hypocrisy at it's finest.

I recall hearing somewhere that you couldn't be fired if your job was affected by your being an alcoholic. Your employer actually has to pay to get you help. So, does that mean that if cigarettes affect my job performance (say I go outside every 15 minutes to have a smoke), my employer would have to pay for my Zyband?

Izzy
09-23-2003, 02:20 AM
Good question Ronaldo!!! But sadly I do not believe that that idea is going to work for us :( But I do think that the people in the states that plan to do away with smoking indoors should really think about BITCHIN their lil asses off to stop that stupid fuckin law from happening to their state!!! If it has already happened to their state, then Ima have to think of something a lil more effective to help change it back to the wonderful way it was!!! What the fuck is happening to this country?! HMM?!?! I heard that the biggest reason most states are doing this is becuz the smoke and the smell from smoking is offensive... YEA?!?! Well so is a child screaming at the top of his/her lungs and throwing a fucking shit fit cuz he/she is a fucking brat and cuz he/she can't have cake for dinner!! What is really offensive about that is their parents think if they ignore the child he/she will shut up!! WRONG!!!!!! Sorry, but if you can't control your fucking kid(s) you need not take them to a public place then should you?!?!?!?!?!?! That's all I got to say about that shit!

What the Fuck is wrong with California?

i am hearing all sorts of Shitty Regulations and Rules!

is your governor indirectly asking you to leave the place? :(

taboo_gal
09-23-2003, 02:51 PM
First, welcome, Izzy. :) Yep, you are definitely "opinionated". LOL

Second, I don't smoke. I tried it a few times, didn't like it. I don't like the smell, the taste or anything else about it. I didn't like going to school with all my stuff smelling like cigarette smoke (both parents). Its just plain nasty. But, what am I to do? I can't control anyone's actions and don't begrudge anyone their freedom to do what they want to do.
Wasn't that the whole idea behind smoking and non smoking sections?

Izzy
09-23-2003, 09:02 PM
Hiya Taboo gal,

Thanks for the welcome :D

And that's a good point about the non smoking sections and the smoking sections, I thought that was what they were for too. What I don't understand about this law being in Cali, is that you can't smoke in public places so non smokers wont get secondhand smoke, but when you go outside you have smog, and there is NO getting around that shit!!!

Move to the East Coast. We have some stupid rules and regulations here, but we don't have severe smog and we aren't going to slip into the ocean anytime soon. <img src="http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/a0/biggrintongue.gif" width="15" height="15">

Doesn't surprise me that California has some of the rules and regulations it enforces though. The state is filled with health nuts and extremely vain people. I still don't really understand the whole smog issue either. Now, all of a sudden, the state changes emmissions standards and passes laws to become environmentally friendly. Why these laws and regulations weren't implemented and enforced before the smog problem became a problem, just doesn't make sense.

Back in my drinking days I was quite used to ducking outside the bar for smoke ... so now I would have to duck out side for a smoke too.

Gives something to bitch about for those that don't have enough, I guess ...

Its kinda stupid though, 20 minute drive to the next city and you can smoke in all th resturants and pubs. They ever try to pull the "no smoking in your own house if you have children" law, They will have to put me in jail.

Izzy
09-25-2003, 05:23 PM
Well, script I do not have kids but I know many ppl that do, and that law would just not fly here, that's fucked up. Even tho I do think it would be bad for a baby to inhale second hand smoke, but hey what ppl do around their kids is none of my business and I really don't make it my problem if they do.

As for the health issue... shit... I have been smoking for 21 years... 1st hand.. and 2nd hand... (x musician lot's of bars many nights in a row many years) and I am still healthy.

What pisses me off even more is the fucking price... make it expensive so kids cannot afford them.. shit I'm 38 and cannot afford them... kids = no financial responsibilities = $$$ in their pocket

I heard on the news where they said the the price raise was working and that smoking by kids has dropped... was nto the price... it was the carding... I am 38 and look it... lines on the face... getting gray etc... I get carded for smokes.. but not alcohol... go figure. So I have to laugh when I hear statements like that...

Gawdamitey, are these signs of the apocolypse? First the Cubs win their division, and now I'm in agreeing with 12clicks? :)

I'm a smoker - and have been for in excess of 30 years. The long term effects have only been showing up for me in the last couple years. Smoking played a role in the death of both of my parents. And like everybody else, I get pissy when I want to smoke and can't. For those who base their opinions on this matter on what they want to think - just wait.

But come on, people ... anyone who thinks that the health effects of smoking have been exaggerated by the elites to social engineer the masses is neck deep in denial, and it ain't no river in Egypt. Any deeper and the tin-foil helmet someone who engages in such hyperbole is likely to be wearing is gonna get wet.
