Red Barn Restaurants?

When I was a little kid (around 4 years to 7 years old) it used to be my favourite place for a hamburger, and I even had my 4th or 5th birthday there, similar to how kids have their birthdays at McDonalds nowadays.

Check out this great link: http://www.barnbuster.net/

Is that only in Canada? Never heard of it.

Not only in Canada, but only in 19 states in the US.

The chain started in the early 60's in Dayton, OH by a man named Harry Barmier, it was called The Red Barn System. It was sold in the late 60's to a company called Servomation (food vending) and became Red Barn Restaurants Inc.

After many successful years, The Red Barn chain was sold again in the late 70s, this time to Motel 6. Over time with little or no advertising, leases ran out and the restaurants closed. In its 20+ year run, the Red Barn operated in 19 states and Canada.

wow, that place definatly has some history. Wonder why the hell it was sold to Motel 6 though, kinda a stupid move. Did they really think simply leaving the light on would keep the place going?

I don't remember that one, but I did go to Fudruckers all the time when I was younger, there was one in Victoria, Edmonton and Calgary I think.

They had the best burgers ever, it was my saturday treat from my dad. :)

There's one near my parents place in Pennsylvania. Very popular, active restaurant. Right in the heart of the tourist area.

Fudruckers and A&W were great when I was a kid, but the best place to go to in LA is Tommy's, they make a chili burger that taste great at 3am after the bars close!

There is a semi-brand-new (maybe 2 years old now?) A&W right up the road ... they are part of pepsi-co now I believe, as they share a building with KFC. Loooove A&W!!

Fudruckers ... ugh, one of these closed down the road after many many health code violations ... place was nasty dirty.
