One of my favourite re-makes of all time is:

Have a Cigar, by Pink Floyd.

The Foo Fighters did a very cool version of it a couple years ago.
Let me know if you want a copy and I'll put it up somewhere.

What are your faves?

Annie Lennox - No More I Love You's and Wait In Vain. They're from a whole album of covers but those two are the best, imho. :)

Generally I HATE covers but my fave remake of all time is Joan Jett's version of I Love Rock And Roll . The original by the Arrows is good but the woman owns that song ever since. Interestingly, Britney Spear's version may be one of the worst versions ever.

I'm a big fan of remakes, esp of 80's songs.

ie:

Land of Confusion - In Flames
Watch out here I come - Orgy (I think off)
If the Kids are United - Rancid
Relax - Powerman 5000
We are only gonna die - Sublime

My wife tells me that Tool/Perfect Circle has made a newer version of Imagine, but I've not yet heard it.

“Sympathy for the Devil” the original was good, but I like the GnR version much better.

For whatever reason, MC Hammer popped into my head. I've never listend to NKOTB directly, but my cousin was obsessed with them. I remember she hated Hammer because he did one of their songs or something crazy like that.

Also liked TYPE O NEGATIVE's versions of <b>Cinnamon Girl</b> (N.Young) and <b>Summer Breeze</b> (Seals & Crofts)

Eddie Vedder and company also did a very good version of <b>Last Kiss</b> (Frank Wilson & the Caviliers)

For the record, the O<S>ZZ</S>Y remake of Staying Alive is not a sampling .... O<S>ZZ</S>Y actually did it with Dweezil Zappa (Franks twisted son) :D

Well worth locating on your favorite P2P program

Slayer's cover of "I Hate You" comes to mind, as does The B-52's cover of "Meet the Flintstones".
