Last night there were some gorgeous Aurora Borealis in the sky.
I checked this page: http://www.sec.noaa.gov/pmap/pmapN.html and it appeared activity would be high in the Montreal area, and IT WAS!

Check out these pics I took.

cool.
Was it moving? I've never seen it, but I heard it moves. Like a slow moving cloud. Or does it move fast?

Does it just appear?

Just curious.

Yeah there are many different kinds... I dunno what the names are, but the green stuff on the horizon is the easiest to photograph.

There was a lot straight up in the sky too, but moving way too fast to take a picture of. I tried, and got nothing. But on the horizon it gets bright and moves slowly and comes and goes a lot.

Chris - that is soooooooooooo cool

when I move oevr there, I would fly up to your neck of the woods in a heatbeat to see that stuff

and your right, nothing like this happens way down here

I was in the Artic circle Aug/Sept of '92, and you have never seen such a show, it was literally in every direction constantly moving filling the entire sky... something I would love to see again.

Great Pics Chris!

Thanks... I've seen them several times here at home. The only other time was when I was in northern Norway in 1985. That was even more impressive.

Those are beautiful pictures. I love the Northen Lights & really miss seeing them on a regular basis. Made me homesick.

When we lived in Alaska, my folks didn't have to ask me to walk our dog. I would do it all the time just to go out and see the Northern Lights. Spent many of winter nights, with sub-below temps outside just staring at the sky.

Welcome to XNations Toni...

Yes the auroras in Alaska must be a sight to see, and you get them almost every night up there.

Pretty cool looking Chris. I've never seen anything like that here in New Orleans
