"My Space" comment/DonMike comment, too

My girls have reconnected with a LOT of lost school pals on my space. I know it's gotten a lot of bad press regarding trolling pedophiles, etc., but it's also done what it was intended to do.

DonMike...one of the friends my youngest reconnected with is a gay high school buddy. She was thrilled to discover that he's been in a five year committed relationship with a military guy who is now serving in Iraq. :salute:
I was glad to hear it, too. I ferried those kids everywhere in "Mom's Taxi." I used to tease him unmercifully every time he got in the car wearing too much cologne. (He was quite the self-obsessed one in high school.) However, he's grown and has developed the self-sacrifice it takes to follow his guy around the country to wherever he's been stationed. He's got a great relationship with his guy's Mom, so that (please no) the worst happens, she'll call him, because heaven knows the military (don't ask, don't tell, and heaven help you if somebody else does) won't. That, of course, set me off on a rant. The guy is good enough to fight and die for his country, but if they find out he's gay he's out on his ass. That's just so fucking wrong I can't deal with it.

My father was career Army. He came to see me once, on some kind of "Army business trip" and was traveling with a sergeant he knew was gay. My dad intoned (he tended to do that) "Man does his job." That, from my father, was one of the highest compliments that could ever be given. Now, if my father, who did two tours in Vietnam and hence came from a generation that was totally uncomfortable with people who were in any way different, could cope with a gay sergeant.... I have no real finish for that sentence, except "what the fuck is WRONG with this country????"

I really wish I had the anwsers to that, I wake up every morning wondering why people do the things they do and or say...but I totally agree with you

One day we'll find a cure for that gay thing...
We just have to work harder damn it!

I think I'm missing something....

But ok.

Gay guys are great... some of my best wingmen. They bring the girls over for me and I hit on the girls shamelessly.

Perfect system. The girls love him, and since He's no competition, Then go home with me.

Since I'm not a homophobe, I'm allowed to mess with the queers.
I used to watch Will & Grace damn it!

I have a gay friend who always gets to feel girls boobs within 30 seconds of meeting them. I'd get a slap in the mouth if I tried that. I'm taking gayness lessons from him so I can feel more boobs.

I guess you had to hear my daughter on the phone being frightened that something would happen to her friend's love...and he wouldn't even get notified by the military.

Periodically I wonder why anyone gives a shit what consenting adults do. How on earth can they care? I wonder. I'm emotionally involved with my own sex life and no one else's. (Up until my girls turned 18 I informed them that I owned the pink slip on their bodies and had one or two - dozen - rules. Once they turned 18 I signed over the pink slips and said "Mazel Tov, have at it." One of them is now collecting piercings and tattoos and I go "oh, cute!" If she had tried that under 18...well, she wouldn't have tried that. I'm scary when angered.)

When my husband was in the Navy, another sailor who was gay was his wingman. (I like that phrase, my dearest studmuffin. Well done. :luv: ) They'd go out drinking together. My husband got the ladies and his gay friend made sure they got back on base alive. They time they literally crawled back over the border from Mexico is one of my favorite stories.... :)

I don't quite understand the whole issue outside of their religious beliefs. Being a person who finds the whole God concept to be a complete joke I don't have the hangup of disliking homosexuals because God thinks its bad.

I'm comfortable enough with my own sexuality that I can be flattered if a gay guy tried to hit on me. You can't catch 'gay'. Why the heck shouldn't he be out trying to score just like everyone else on the planet?

Strange how a lot of the hate we deal with every day ends up getting traced back to one religion or another...

LOL!!! I think that needs to be on a T-shirt! Brilliant.

I have a straight cousin back east who knows all about me and is totally cool with it. He's about 20 now. A few years ago I was visiting my folks at Christmas time and he was at the house. When he went to leave he stuck out his hand to shake mine. I grabbed him and gave him a big bearhug and said to him, "It's okay kiddo, it doesn't rub off". LOL! Your post reminded me of that.

I must be the only one on the planet who's never been there, but my girls have lots of conversations with me that start "you're never going to believe who I've found again!!" That's nice, especially since they've found kids that are now healthy, happy and carrying on nicely with life. :)

LMFAO, I am on the floor and just pissed myself.....:laughout:

DonMike 06-19-2006 05:10 PM

I don't really have anyone from high school that I'd care to run into again. LOL! Maybe a few old friends from college. How cool that we have this way to reconnect again when in the past people were lucky if they ran into an old friend on the street somewhere.
