H1N1 are YOU concerned?

Influenza A (H1N1) virus is a subtype of influenza A virus and the most common cause of influenza (flu) in humans. Some strains of H1N1 are endemic in humans and cause a small fraction of all influenza-like illness and a small fraction of all seasonal influenza. H1N1 strains caused a few percent all human flu infections in 2004-2005[1]. Other strains of H1N1 are endemic in pigs (swine influenza) and in birds (avian influenza).

In June 2009, World Health Organization declared that flu due to a new strain of swine-origin H1N1 was responsible for the 2009 flu pandemic. This strain is often called "swine flu" by the public media.

:geez:

Can't wait to get our shots in December, here in Canada we have to wait  You can't even pay for it!

Thoughts?

Not really, I read an article this week where most governments over compensated and wasted millions on a pandemic that will not be as huge as initially expected.

I do not get a flu vaccine. I have watched friends and family receive theirs year in and year out and they always manage to get worse viruses then I have ever had.

Of course I do believe that children and those most susceptible should ignore the vaccine. Precautions shoudl be taken if you are at risk.

I had my swine flu shot two weeks ago. Montreal is not Canada, its a city in Canada.

Wash your hands and don't make out with sick people and you should be fine

I hope it won't be as huge as predicted!

I have a different take on this when I was a child I was of relativity normal health no food allergy or anything . I received a flue shot because the medical establishment told my mother she had to get me immunized end result was I got a high fever which according to the united nations was a rare side effect of having the flue shot . but they had deemed it an aceptible risk . End result I ended up having a life threatening peanut allergy among other things which developed right after the flue shot . So in answer to your question no I am not worried about H1N1 and I am NOT getting another flue shot. Sorry I just don't trust the government.

not into having people stick me with needles full of god knows what. That I know is going to make me sick just because they tell me I need to get it done .

apparently it might be in "canada" if you can't get a shot. Can't even pay for it? Man it must suck to live in "canada".

Not the first time I hear stories like that...I usually don't get the flu shot either, I'm just more concerned about my son. I've been going back and forth asking my pediatrician for his professional opinion and trying to get as much information as possible. But we all know there is so much misinformation out there.

In the mean time I've stuck two bottles of hand sanitizers in his school bag!

I have spoken to doctors and read articles saying the same thing - it's overkill and guess who profits from it?:skull:

Cyndalie 11-16-2009 11:07 AM

I think Bri just had it. He takes the subway into the city every day for work. He never gets sick and was hit by a truck and a 3 day fever - really down for the count in terrible condition. Now 5 days later he's returning to work with some chest congestion. For him it was mostly a terrible fever, aches, weakness, all the flu stuff none of the cold stuff (runny nose, sinus headache, etc)

MediaGuy 11-17-2009 06:40 PM

The real pandemic is the fear spreading everywhere to everyone.

Even if the swine flu spreads far and wide, stats show it doesn't kill as many people as the regular flu.

The vaccine is looking like the potential danger in all this. I won't get my kids done, that's for sure.

Even the regular flu shot is a sham. In '97, they got it wrong... not a little wrong, they were way off. And as a consequence no one on Earth got a flu shot that year.

Were there more cases of the flu? No. Were there more deaths? No. In some cases less serious tolls of flu were reported.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...s-America.html

And it wouldn't be the first time they fast-track a vaccine and kill or damage people.

The consequences of getting the swine flu are about the same or less than the regular flue, and allow you to build up natural antibodies, not temporary adjuvant-boosted reactions to weakened or dead antigens...

Fooey.

I don't believe they use adjutants in the US

Panky 11-17-2009 08:00 PM

I've never received a flu vaccination and I don't intend to get vaccinated for H1N1 either.

GoodChris 11-18-2009 12:49 AM

Its all BS.

I'm not falling for it.

None of the H1N1 vaccines currently distributed by the U.S. government contain adjuvants.
All H1N1 vaccines used in the United States are licensed by the FDA and are made in the same way as seasonal influenza vaccines are made. Currently, seasonal flu vaccines in the United States are also made without adjuvants.

Yngwie 11-18-2009 01:17 AM

I don't worry about any type of flu or disease. I've never even had a regular flu shot and I'm certainly not going to get a h1n1 shot. The way I live my life I am immune to everything. As George Carlin once said "My immune system is tempered in raw shit!" ;)

Evil Chris 11-18-2009 01:19 AM

anyway, anything north of Parry Sound can't live more than 5 minutes outdoors due to the freezing cold. Those flu bugs don't stand a chance!

Nah they're not allowed normally, just an aluminum chloride of some kind, but under the federal emergency act they've already fast-tracked this one under “public health emergency” and made exception to such things as sqaelene and other so-called boosters... and that was one that is specifically forbidden for use in the Europe, maybe in the US, but not in Canada...

The headlines will begin shortly... Guillain-Barre Syndrome, premature rhematism or arthritis...

Our memories are short: in 1976 another swine-flu vaccine killed more people than the flu. I think that's what made them stop using squalene.

geeze

I disagree with your statement.

If it became a pandemic and our government did nothing, heads would roll. I'd much rather have our government do too much and waste money than do nothing. People don't seem to understand that a simple thing like this can wipe out large percentages of world population. Look up "Panademic" and see what we've faced in the past.

Funbrunette 11-18-2009 07:09 PM

Well it's done both Ryan and I got our shots this afternoon! I'm glad it's done. :)

Go to the WHO's website and check out what the definition of "pandemic" i s now...

They've recently changed it. Has nothing to do with mortality rate anymore.

This bloody H1N1 was another BS media circus that got everyone in a panic over nothing. Many report show this thing is weak and not as widespread as the sheep have been lead to believe.

Everyone should stop jumping on both sides of the hype and make the decisions that is best for you and your family if you have one.

I'm just as sick of the conspiracy theorists as I am of the media hype. If you are not a Doctor or a immunization specialist and found all your anti vaccine info from the web, from your friends over beers or from Jim Carry and Jenny McCarthy then I don't think you can have an expert opinion.

2000 people a year die of regular influenza, they don't make the front page of the news. Neither do those adversely affected by immunizations, so that number must be equally as low if no t lower.

Funny I listened to two women go on and on about how the Government wants us to get sick, they made up swine flu just to sell a new vaccine, all the while they were puffing away on Cigs, the healthy alternative.
