Is anyone still Shooting SD or is every going to HD???

Let me know!!!! We now only shoot HD, we actually have some Standard Digitally shot(SD) content to sell off(SOLE OWNERSHIP / EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS Ofcourse), but I am curious if some of you still think its still worth it to shoot SD scenes.

SD?? Isn't that something like 8-Track??

Cyndalie 07-27-2010 11:39 AM

maybe if you are going for amateur looking content

Cyndalie hit it on the head - depending on the "look" of the content you want to portray whether it's a professional looking video or amateur style should be your answer.

no, no, and no. No matter how "amateur" you want it to look, you should always do it with current technology. It isn't even that current. I switched to 16:9 in 2002 and those videos can still be useful. 4:3 is dead. You want any kind of legs at all....use HD. Like Danny said, sd is like 8 track. Forget about it. This amateur look has always been a bs argument to justify bad.
edit: even amateurs today shoot hd.

With the state of technology and the inexpensive price, Amateurs are making some real kick ass movies these days. I've seen some amazing true Amateur Porn that blew away what is coming from most of the big studios. You can pick up a quality HD cam that shoots 1080P for under $500. My Canon XL-1 cost me $6K back when it came out in 1998 and a $500. HD cam blows it away now.

people that buy are expecting quality these days, even from the hubby and wife team down the road. The "Amateur look" was just code for "I'm too cheap to buy proper equipment and too lazy to learn how to use what I have"

My first video camera cost $65,000.00 plus 20K for the lens. My current 6K camera is HD and it blows that camera right to hell. So do the videos off my still camera for that matter. There is no excuse for shooting sd anymore.

I am not debating that issue - in fact I do prefer and insist that everyone uses HD - I was only suggesting that in a worst case scenario you can use it, not a standard for shooting the content. My apologize if it came out incorrectly
