Will the Leafs make the playoffs?

It's March (ok, February 29th), so it must be that time once again to discuss the possibility of the Toronto Maple Leafs making or not making the playoffs.

I'm going to say probably not, yet it's a bit early to tell. Sundin's decision to remain with his team-mates seems to have inspired them to play at bit of a higher level recently. Toskola is also on his game lately too. Consider as well that Ottawa has sucked badly lately and Montreal's recent success seems to be trailing off as well.

It's pointless to crunch numbers and go into hypotheticals based on games remaining etc, so I'm not doing that. I'll just say they probably won't make the playoffs. Maybe. :laughout:

Go Leafs Go

I'd rather they not and get a better pick in next years draft!

Leafs are fallin year round not just in the fall

I have been a leafs fan for over 40 years and remember the last days they won the cup. Many will call me stubborn but I still have hope until the last sec rings on the clock and 3rd period is over that they can still make the playoffs - the cup is another problem

Playoffs maybe, then what? Out first round, better luck next year boys?

They blew the trade deadline, the interim GM talked big about short term solutions to long term issues etc and he was quashed by upper management and owners. Same ol Leafs, same old no cup for another 40 years :) They need youth, they need a complete team, not old swedes that like their life in Toronto.

I think Leaf fans should get a divorce from the "blue" and come join me in Detroit or Pittsburgh even, hehehe.

It would be nice to see, but who knows. At least their goalie has more then 20 games of NHL experience lol

When the tide turns, and it will, you bandwagon fans are NOT welcome at the ACC!!!

LMAO.. one thing I am not is a bandwagon FAN, that is Toronto thign to do, for all their teams. Look at the Blue Jays, you could set up a liabrary in there during a game it's so quiet, but if they were back in the penant race or world series, you wont get seats on the roof for under $800.00

Evil Chris 02-29-2008 02:56 PM

That can be said about most sports markets... Team not doing well? Crickets.
Team winning? Sold out stadium.

With the exception of 2, maybe 3 teams. Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, and to a lesser degree the Minnesota Wild.

I think a lot of that had to do with the strike in 94. I was an avid Blue Jays fan since their inception, but the strike in 94 just made me bitter. Same as the hockey strike. I haven't been into it since.

Ronaldo 03-01-2008 12:28 AM

Oh, of course the Leafs won't make the playoffs. I think the better question is will the Leafs finish 29th in a 30 team league. lol.
