ICQ has just gone downhill....

It used to be this awesome little instant messaging tool which was fairly light, didn't use up much resources, and worked like a charm.

Now it's heavy, sluggish, and seems to give people a lot of headaches.

I just downgraded from the latest ICQ6 back to 2001b and it's a heck of a lot better.

What version are you using?

McKidd 08-15-2008 08:30 AM

Chris I agree with you that ICQ has just become shite with all the extra gadgets it comes with now.

Funbrunette 08-15-2008 09:09 AM

I stick to MSN now, I got fed up of ICQ fast.

Abernathy SixtySix 08-15-2008 09:28 AM

I have to say all my chats suck ass...msn is not better but the worst so far has to be the chat on Facebook...constantly says people are offline when they are not!!

Cyndalie 08-15-2008 10:17 AM

I use icq 6 and have no problems with it whatsoever.

Magnus3x 08-15-2008 11:08 AM

Yeah I have never had any real issues with ICQ ever, maybe 1 re-install. I tried light and it was a lil glitchy so I went back to the big one. I disable all the crap add ons.

BigBrownKablooey 08-15-2008 12:26 PM

The add-ons are for shit and they make things sluggish. But we can't do without ICQ. I talk to clients thru ICQ.

I use adium on OS X.

You should try pidgin or trillian.

SinSational 08-15-2008 02:11 PM

i'm running 2003b.
i prefer AOL, MSN and Skype over icq, but everyone seems to still use it, so i'm forced to deal with it.

TheEnforcer 08-18-2008 12:00 PM

2003b is my version.
