Best (forgotten) movies ever?

We all have our favourite movies that seem to come to mind whenever we're talking about favourite movies, but what are some of your "forgotten" faves? Movies that make you go, yeah I remember that one... what a great flick!

Here are a couple of mine...

1950 - Sunset Boulevard
(Gloria Swanson was incredible in this)

1979 - Being There
(Peter Sellars last movie... you gotta see this...)

I agree with Aly

That was one funny movie Aly.

My favorite movie of all time was North and South.

Kind of long, but you can't agrue with a Clark Gable movie.

Fäbojäntan....an old swedish classic adult movie from the 70´s :)

I love going here: http://us.imdb.com/top_250_films to find out all the oldies that are highly rated and then download/rent the movies. I just never got into the pre-80's movies until recently. Just saw Citizen Kane this year.

It amazes me how they rate Shawshank Redemption as the #2 movie of all time. I really loved it, but c'mon - #2?

Evil Chris 11-10-2002 04:45 PM

hershie.... I had a look at that list and I wouldn't put a lot of faith in it.
Some good movies in there, but the order is questionable.

I watched "The Crying Game" last night. Hadn't seen it since it first came out. Great movie....

If you grew up with dorky parents like mine you got a lot of quirky British movies from the 50s and 60s.

Tom Jones (actually won an oscar for best picture!)
The Wrong Box
Papillion
The Great Escape
The Longest Day

Some forgotten movies from the last 2 decades:

Wings of Desire
Until the End of the World
Hamburger Hill
Once Were Warriors

Good stuff! I saw some of Kentucky Fried Movie on cable and it was pretty hilarious. Airplane! was on Comedy Central last night as well.

Why would anybody laugh? That's a kick ass movie.

You know, I hate Arnold Republicanegger, but he's made some of my all time favorite movies... Conan the Barbarian, Predator, Total Recall, The Running Man, Terminator... all great fuckin movies.

That's the movie that placed Steven Spielberg on the map, and it won the oscar for the best picture in 75, not bad :)

Anyone else like war movies?

great flick for sure. Was actually an anti-war flick as Vietnam was raging at the time. A couple other good war movies in that era were Catch-22 and M.A.S.H.
