Bing and Yahoo Integrate

Microsoft and Yahoo finalize search deal
  • The deal will place Microsoft’s Bing search tool on Yahoo’s search pages
  • Yahoo has agreed to use Bing on its internet sites in return for 88 percent of the revenue from search ads for the first half of the 10-year deal that is expected to be completed early next year.
  • Closing of the transaction can occur in early 2010

Yahoo has to do something. Their search results really do suck.

This comes as no surprise. Yahoo has sucked for a while. I remember the day when they were the only real search engine. I remember the rest of the search engines - alta vista, ask.com - lining up behind Yahoo.

But this is an odd move on Yahoo's part. If their search engine results are powered by bing, well, then Yahoo is really nothing more than a web page and a handful of products that no one uses.

I still use Yahoo more than I use Google. It looks like Bing was a bit of a failure to stand on its own. Nice try anways.

I hope this deal doesn't destroy the excellent SERPs I have with Yahoo!

Really? I pretty much use Google for everything except for news. I love the Yahoo news site.

Bing is supposedly the next best thing as they tout themselves to be more porn-friendly than Google. Maybe because of their porn image service. I read about it when Rupert Murdoch threatened to pull out his NewsMedia Corps sites from Google (because the search engine was allegedly showing paid content for free.); and that he will move them to Bing instead.

I'm running Google Chrome with Bing as my default search engine

I wonder if you will be able to buy ads for both sites from 1 admin.

this was inevitable.. Big G has forced other search engines to do this :-s
