Top three:

Omen
Blair Witch Project
The shining

I have a little story about the Omen. I was about 8 and at my friends house watching it. Well here it was about 10 at night and I go to walk right around the corner to go home. Back then it was safe for a little kid to make a 2 min walk home by theirselves. So just as I walk out the door I see this large black shape come bounding out of the darkness at me and I take off like a bat out of hell. I thought it was the dog from the Omen. I go to run across the street, trip and slide halfway across the road on my bare knees, elbows and face all the while screaming my head off. Neighbors come running out of their houses and even my dad who was waiting on our porch for me heard me and came running. They found me laying on my back, covered in blood from road rash, crying hysterically and getting licked to death by the whining and very confused Max, my neighbors very friendly and affectionate Doberman. In the dark after a scary movie a Doberman and a Rottweiler can look a hell of alot alike especially when they are running top speed at you for some petting.

LOL

That's a great story!!!

ExLust 10-29-2008 02:50 AM

The Exorcist. Almost all horror movies.

I had horrible nightmares as a kid and just about any scary movie would do it. But the most fucked up one was Freddy. Since I already had such bad nightmares Freddy played well into that. I only ever watched the first 10 minutes of Nightmare on Elm street and I didn't sleep for like a week. Even now I can't watch the Freddy movies, they just freak me out way to much. I'm still not a huge fan of the really gory movies like Hostel and Saw, but I can watch some of the less ucky ones like the Scream movies and Resident Evil. I just close my eyes during the bloody parts. ;)

None of them really give me nightmares. Then again, I didn't see many movies when I was a kid.

Oddly enough its not the gruesome bloody over the top kind of movies that get to me but the ones with a certain margin of believability to it that affect me.

Like the Blair Witch Project - no gore what so ever but yet a slow building of anticipation and a reality you could interject yourself into. My heart just pounded more and more as that movie went on.

Another on is the ORIGINAL Friday the 13th. That was all about a mom who lost her son losing her mind and taking revenge. The part where she is walking through the woods and talking to herself and answering herself in this creepy kid voice gave me chills. They completely ruined that movie with the rest of the series.

I have actually had really heated discussions about horror movies and can get pretty into proving my point. LOL

SykkBoy 10-29-2008 01:09 PM

Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The Exorcist
Suspiria

Mr. Burns 10-29-2008 01:49 PM

Nightmare on Elm St.
The Howling
Psycho

I can't say anything ever really scared me as a kid. I always really enjoyed horror movies. A more recent movie that I did find so very fucked up though was Hostel.

Funbrunette 10-30-2008 07:39 AM

Open water was on again yesterday and although it flopped at the box office I thought it was an excellent movie. It's very psychological and I found myself feeling trapped just watching it sitting on my couch. And to think that story is real....Glad I'm not a diver! :geez:

Vid Vicious 10-30-2008 11:43 AM

any vampire movie .. even the comedies

Cyndalie 10-30-2008 02:01 PM

Stephen King's "IT"

LizAEBN 11-05-2008 10:20 AM

The Entity freaked my shit OUT back in the day.

Lately, not much gives me the wig - dated to many slasher fans, I guess? - but I watched Session 9 last week, and it was creepy as hell, and when I saw The Ring in the pre-release screener (before it became everyone's favourite movie to parody) it scared the bejeezuz out of me.
