I just started a few months ago, finishing my 4th DVD...
distributors want two things it seems :
1. very consistent content and approach of each DVD
2. at least 10 titles
I have been offered contracts if I can come up with "10-15 DVDs".
Typical price they pay is $4-6 each, it cost $1-2 to produce in quantity.
That's like 200% profit. Do content buyers and leasers have that profit margin???
I know that a considerable amount of "free" and "exclusive" media I've seen on sites are DVD or video captures. Especially the "bi" category...
And I don't know why I would pay 9.99 for VOD when the store has the entire DVD for 12.99. Unless I am hiding from the store, or FedEx guy at home!
P.S. i think that going to distributors directly and talking is better than "overhearing" things.
