Chris, I used to use them as well and moved all my domains to
www.name.com
Name.com used to be $5.99 per new domain but they've raised their prices recently to $9.99 for new registrations and the same price for renewals.
Whois privacy is $7.99, but they offer it on special for $1.99.
dotcoms at Godaddy are $11.99 per year. I'm not sure what the whois privacy or renewal costs are, though.
