I live in a fairly big building and when I search for wireless networks I always see at least 2 or 3 other networks besides my own. In total there are at least 6 or 7 wireless networks within range.
But the fun part was when I found one with no passwords or security enabled. For a few minutes I was surfing the net on another person's connection before I got paranoid and disconnected.
