The "sticking together" thing, sometimes called "networking," but made small by that word, somehow, is crucial in an industry where a very bad day could consist of having one's door kicked in by an eager beaver local law enforcement type who wants to play "Test the Constitution."

We do have to stick together, not only for business reasons, but for personal ones as well. Sometimes people in a profession can only express their frustrations and fears to other people in the same profession. No one else would understand.
One of my ex-doctors once smiled at me condescendingly and said "if you want to help the pain in your hands, stay off the computer." Uh...no can do. See, that ol' earning a living thing doth intrude. My current doctor comiserates, admits it must totally suck, and prescribed me pain killers. I'm not damaging anything, by the way. It just hurts like hell. The conditions also conflict. Fibro makes them hurt like hell...but if I stop using my hands the arthritis will take the opportunity to make them stiffen up and become totally useless. Kind of like my legs at the end of the day, when I walk like Lon Chaney.
I know that there are a lot of people out there that don't like me, but I'm comfy with that. There are a lot of people out there that I don't like. I collected a bunch that I *do* like, and prefer to give them my attention.
