Thats a pretty loaded question - so let me try and offer a bit of help

Terms to know

Links List:
While many of the other types of sites will have a links list, sites in this group are mostly just a collection of links. PK's Adult Links is a good example. A links list site does hard links. They carry a permanent link to your site, you carry a permanent link to theirs.

TGP's
Basically a TGP is just a specialized type of links list. You submit galleries that meet their guidelines and they post the galleries on their site. Each TGP will have their own requirements. Your listing on a TGP will generally be limited to the amount of time it takes for them to rotate their list. Some TGP's have a "archive" section where older listings are carried for an extended period of time. These archives may be by date or by category.

Top List:
A top List is a traffic EXCHANGE program. Your placement on their list is determined by how much traffic you send them. They re-rank their list periodically ..maybe hourly, maybe daily. Generally, there is a minimum number of hits you need to qualify for a listing.

- Blogs and RSS Feeds
- Newsgroups/GoogleGroups
- Press Releases, Articles, & News
- Email, Newsletter list capturing
- Banner Advertising
