I happen to be a huge fan of Google, and before Firefox came out, I had Google toolbar installed in Internet Explorer. I happen to know that it does not install any adware. And it does a pretty good job of blocking pop-ups.
My suggestion to you though, is to download Firefox. Why bother with internet explorer any longer, it is loaded with security vulnerabilities that could lead to your computer being compromised. I mean, they had to release a security patch to prevent JPG images from installing a virus on your machine! And we look at quite a few JPG's!
So try out Firefox, You can download themes, customize it, it has extensions to do all sorts of things... like display your local weather, block advertisement servers and images, etc.
