I actually like snakes. They can be so very beautiful. I could never have one as a pet, though, because they eat live food. That was my one rule for the kids when they wanted pets: "no live food." (My husband nixed the youngest's request for a tarantula in a BIG way. He's afraid of spiders. So am I, but tarantualas are big and are more like "pets" than the things that occasionally crawl up the walls.)
I am very afraid of scorpions, though.
The caterpillers we have around here are just cute, fuzzy things that hang out until they turn into something else...which astounds me to no end.
