I didn't really grow up in that age, but I do remember watching Super Dave, which was a kids take on him I believe.
We used to watch Super Dave on "Bizarre" years ago. That was a very funny show. The actor who played him is Bob Einstein. You can see him in a re-curring role on "Curb your Enthusiasm" in the role of Marty Funkhouser. He's still funny.
