Boardtracker Rocks!!
I've got to put a plug in for a product that I just finally tried.
After tuning XXXManager out for a while (Just joking Ron), I finally signed up for boardtracker and it is awesome.
I knew there were alot of board out there, but there was just NO way to keep track of them. After I signed up, I found a "few" more.
I'm not gonna list all the features, other than to say I only keep two browsers open for message boards all day. Naturally, Xnations and the other is Boardtracker.
If you haven't tried it, I highly suggest you do.

Using BoardTracker myself - all I can say is - It's easy to be one of the first to blush when someone says something good about you

It can. It's up to you if you yourself want to see them.
In the settings section you can indicate what board types (sponsor/resource/...) you want to track and - for what you were asking - what forum type you want to track. Two of the many types are "spam/announcement" and "Trade request" (containing also gallery request in some boards). You can chose to either "bookmark" it or not.
If you don't bookmark a forum type, it is not being tracked for you. You will not see it in the "Bookmarks" view (as opposed to "All threads" that shows everything from everywhere regardless of bookmarks) and you will not receive alerts on threads in those forum types (Note - alerts are sent only for threads in your personal bookmarked boards/forums).
