What is your most effective advertising?

Affiliate programmes seem way, way too expensive. Why would anyone in their right mind pay 50 per cent or more for a client. Maybe someone could enlighten me. Even a real estate agent will only pay 10 per cent for a referral JMHO __________________ Vintage glamour and fetish photographer.
